Hello,
I think after an Audrey attempt is before the next one and as the last attempt didn't work, we might already start to think about what we can make differently at the next one. At first I have to say that Remy's idea sounds still very clever and it could be possible, that we just sent too few troops. Or rather not the right ones, because the whole attempt was based on the assumption, that feeding the beating heart would work the same way as feeding the growing heart. So one idea for the next attempt could be to send a bigger variety of troops and armies to the heart: Maybe she only eats t2 troops, or only commander xp is counting or we have to feed her all different kind of troops, or maybe there is 0.5% chance to trigger the second crone visit per army and so we should send more smaller armies. I know that this procedure would have one big disantvantage. If it works, we won't know why it has worked, but at the moment it's the best idea, that I have. If someone has a better one, feel free to share it. And I have also a question: Were there already attempts that tried to send unit to the right and the left tendril? It seems interesting that the tiles have names, but maybe they get important in a later step of the quest ... Hopefully not too many of you have lost hope of solving audrey because this promising approach didn't work on the first try. A new era of audrey attempts has only just begun. |

I did launch diplos to squares other than the HOC itself, the surrounding 8 as well as a few to every corrupted square. Admittedly they were diplo units instead of military and were small in number instead of large but no indication of anything different.
Only thing I can think of would be to feed until it beats and then stop. Since it says 'fools continue to feed it' perhaps the key is to not feed it at all. I'm guessing everyone tried sending stuff all over as well as to the temples. Was anyone ready to do the quest and was just gone in Dec and ended up not sending anything? |

I tried scattering diplos around the map at various sites during the recent activity. This included Duraz Karag, the Temple of Reason, Misted Lands, and the Fortress of Shadows and did not notice anything new.
Other thoughts at this time: -- Hit the fortune teller every chance you get. I am now a conspiracy theorist that believes there exists logical errors in code of the game that is causing the Old Crone not to follow up as she has promised or the tentacles to escape upon failure. A few extra missions from the Crone may shake things out or expose the problem to the awareness of the developers? -- Avoid trying to collect tentacles from the Broken Lands. Could it be possible that these long walks mess up the timing of the escaping tentacles or "swift and ruinous" attack? The Audrey quest was created before the BL was introduced and these extra long walks of the corrupted forces may be causing a problem? Grind on my friends.

I think we need some positive input from the devs as this has been going on an age, in game time and a lot of people have suggested the quest/coding is broken. I just mist out on the attempt when tentacles were stolen and corrupt squares appeared next to their cities, but I like many followed the known steps and got nowhere, and since then nothing really has changed.
It’s great there is new interest and action but I feel the community has been left in the dark with no clues for too long.

I think there have been clues, just very subtle ones... for example, the vault was given capacity to store resources, minimal as that is, I believe it to be an incentive for someone to "accidently" have a vault with the tentacles to retain them from escaping.
I share in your frustration... a clear sign of failure or reset would be beneficial to restart the quest in a city or to know with certainty that the quest can never be completed in a city once one has failed. It is the purgatory of not knowing that disincentivizes further efforts.
