   Doing
the same steps over and over, and expecting different results is just
crazy. Doing the same steps, over and over, for 10 years and not
getting results is completely insane. Let's not keep doing this. 

We need to try something new thing with every attempt at the
quest. Last year, we tested the timing of doing the steps and waking
up Audrey. Nothing happened. So, we have to test something else.
There is no point in waking up Audrey if we are not doing something
different or testing a theory. 

I want to test if feeding Audrey from the quest town makes a
difference. To do this, I need players who will send different
amounts of troops to Audrey from their quest towns, AND share the
info. 

The plan is to wake up Audrey in December. This is to give players
time to build troops and/or diplos, do the quest steps before Audrey
wakes up (fortune teller, old crone, Duraz Karag), and then send
troops/diplos to Audrey to wake her up. 

If you have a quest town and are willing to feed Audrey, AND share
the info, please post here or send me an IGM. 

Also, there are 60 corrupted squares around Audrey right now,
which is fine. It will make it easier to wake her up when we want to
wake her up. But please don't feed Audrey any more until
November/December. If we wake her up in December (after the November
tourney), then we can plan for the swift and ruinous attack in
January, and then tourney in February. 

That's my plan. Please join me because together, we can do this.

	I agree we need to do something different. We know much more know about Audrey's attack on our cities, and how the tentacles attempt to escape. Were we to actually make it to that stage of the quest, I'd say we have a pretty good chance of beating it. The trouble is actually making it to that stage. The 2014 attempt was the only run at Audrey wherein the quest-goers got the 2nd old crone visit, and then the subsequent attack. To me, this means that they must've done something that future attempts didn't which would've triggered the old crone visit. What's more, from the looks of the records on the forum, it seems that all participants received the visit from the old crone, and then had their tentacles attempt an escape. This tells us that whatever triggers the crone visit is not done on an individual level, it must a condition that's fulfilled by the actions of the server at large. If it were an individual trigger to get the second crone visit, and then the tentacle escape, there would've been players who missed out in 2014. As to what does trigger the message, that's the piece of the puzzle we're missing at the moment. I think it's pretty probable that feeding Audrey is what we need to do to solve this. 2014, by the looks of the forum records, didn't do all that much different from us. The main difference seemed to be scale; more people interested meant more people sending. As well as that, less information meant more people sending at the heart, as opposed to nowadays where the moment Audrey wakes, we spam at the temples instead. I myself sent over 100 missions from my quest city in December 2023. Nothing happened. There's also this message from the 2nd crone visit, which no player has received in nearly 10 years. "The Horror has stirred; and the fools continue to feed it - making your task ahead more arduous" This, to me is a key indicator that a second requirement must be met in order to advance in the quest. We've stirred the Horror plenty of times over the last few years, but we've forgotten that the only attempt in which the quest advanced was the one in which the fools continued to feed it. We've been struggling to figure out how to receive this message and advance the quest all these years, but it tells us itself: "the fools continue to feed it". If we were not fools who continued to feed it, why would we ever get such a message? The specifics of this second requirement are completely unknown, but for the reasons above we have strong reason to believe that: A: We need to sacrifice to Audrey not just to wake her, but also after she's woken up. B: We need to send units in bulk to the heart. C: We need to do this on a server-wide scale. I agree that it's good to send massive amounts of units at Audrey from the quest cities themselves, but think it's more likely that the condition we need to fulfill will be a more general "x amounts of units sent to heart" requirement, similar to the requirement to waking her up. Once December comes, we all need to start sending at Audrey like there's no tomorrow, whether it's from the quest city or not, and not stop sending until we get that message.

	Could part of the problem be that people now send stuff one at a time to get the tentacles and that they are not always troops? Whereas before I would guess that it was troops being sent.

	Please correct me if I'm wrong in any of these assumptions. You do not need to have completed any of the earlier steps to send troops to awaken Audrey. Send only troops to her once has awakened. Send as many troops as you can each time. If these assumtions are correct it means that any player regardless of size can make a contribution to trying to allow those at the necessary stage of the mystery to repeat the earlier sucess in getting the second crone visit. I am still a very long way from having all the crafting research done anywhere but If I can assist others by sending troops then I can hopefully assist in solving the puzzle.

	Yep that's exactly right Tens. Diplos might also work as well as troops, we send as much as possible. As for sending to the temples, I doubt it'll hurt at all, but don't think it's the key to the quest. That said, it's certainly not useless. Each individual mil/diplo/trade order sent to the temples gives a 5% chance of yielding a tentacle once the melders reach your city, so its good to farm tentacles too so that more players can give it a shot once they're ready :D The important thing to advance the quest though, I think, is to send as much as possible to the heart itself even after Audrey's woken. Especially after Audrey's woken.

	Remy has a great idea that we can test. And that's what we are doing. We are going to wake up Audrey in December, and players doing the quest need to contribute to feeding her, and also continue to feed her after she is awake. This is from the 2nd old crone visit, that happened in 2014 while Audrey was beating ... "The Horror has stirred; and the fools continue to feed it - making your task ahead more arduous. You've spoken with the Ancient Dwarven warriors, and you've made your choice to stand in opposition. Once it is sated, the next phase will begin. Okay, so when Audrey woke up in 2014, those few players got another visit from the old crone. Audrey was awake, but the old crone says, "once it is sated." Seems like Audrey was awake, but not sated yet. She needs more food. The idea to keep feeding her makes sense and is worth trying out. The plan for this year's quest attempt is to feed Audrey in December, then continue to feed her after she is awake. I need players who want to try the quest, and will follow the plan and instructions. Email me if interested. Players will need to feed Audrey to wake her up, then continue to feed Audrey while she is beating, and keep a record of units sent AND share the information. We can only solve this quest if we keep track of stuff and share the information. I need all of you wonderful people to help with this, and with feeding Audrey, and with helping your friends defend their towns when the time comes. 	Okay, so Audrey is about to be woken up, like any day now. We are sticking with the plan for December. If you want to attempt the quest, wait for December, build lots of troops so you can feed Audrey, do the fortune teller/old crone/Duraz Karag steps, and make a plan to defend your city.

	Update: Players who are attempting the quest need to get the steps done before December. Send spies to the Fortune Teller, wait for the old crone to visit, then send a messenger to Duraz Karag. This has to be done before Audrey wakes up. Starting December 1, after the tourney is over, we are going to wake up Audrey. When Audrey wakes up in December, we are going to continue to feed her, especially players doing the quest. We are not sending to the temples to get tentacles. We are feeding Audrey until she is "sated." Get the steps done and build troops (for the tourney and/or feeding Audrey).

	Anyone know if you need to 'redo' the steps if its been a while or if its permanent once you do the steps up to audrey beating?

	Freyja might be able to give a better answer, but to me it seems that there’s no way of knowing, since the last time anyone got the “The horror has stirred, and the fools continue to feed it” message was ten years ago So hopefully we’ll get info on that after this attempt.
