Please for the love of all that is holy, no Java.  My computers are all cleansed from that client-side pox.

Javascript can do the job just fine and help throughout the game interface anyway, but that's a discussion for later.

I guess it's a long-shot... but is there any chance there's a way to get the map running without having to reload the page a million times when you are scolling about? Maybe with a bit of java magic....? Then you could just hold down a direction key or drag with the mouse to move around, it'd make the whole interface much easier to use!! ^^

Also: An easier helpful fix: Can you move the compass next to the + ~ buttons to the top of the interface? At the moment even on the best resolution on my computer I have to scroll down every time I scroll the map when moving south, it gets quite boring if you are looking for something without already having coords. Plus my connection speed is quite good, I imagine it'd be truly painful on a slow one.  ;)
