I'm sure many of us are wondering who is winning, so I created this topic so the spinsters can tell us.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!
Ha. This should be fun. I'll get the ball rolling. Grand Alliance, no doubt. Huge number of razed cities, Even more exoduses, and clear strategic initiative in almost all areas.

I agree. Certainly looks like Grand Alliance to me. I'm sure we will hear the counter view soon.

All the ones involved know who's winning . The rest of us watching form the side lines you don't need to know. Its none of your business. You want to know join the fight you'll find out real fast who's winning . [ don't judge a man until you walk in his shoes ]

Halcyon is correct - anyone who's ranking is improving in any area is a winner - so irrespective of the words of the spin-merchants, all engaged in the current war are winners one way or the other.

What defines a victory? If you invest most of your units into one area and lose a majority of them in the process of gaining control of that area, is that really a victory? You would still have so much field to cover with substantially less units, high loss/low gain.

In the long term, the defeat of your opponent, presumably by surrender or destruction, or possibly just by retreat or stalemate (in defensive conflicts). In the short term, victory is defined by the achievement of objectives that support your long term victory conditions, or else thwart the compromise of those conditions.
If you need to control that area to achieve your victory conditions, it's really a victory. Your opponents would need to invest a lot of Illyriad units to inflict those casualties on you. If achieving the individual victory meant compromising your ability to achieve your long term goal for overall victory, then it was a Pyrrhic win. For example, if you broke an individual huge siege, but subsequently lacked the cavalry to break future sieges, then it was a foolish short term victory. |
