I was just curious, at what level are your most experienced commanders?

Who's commander has the highest level?

And which commander skills/strategies do you all like the best/think works best?

my highest is lvl 24 knight commander.
I build up attack the most and defense against all units for just the commander.
i build up speed for slower armies and i also build up some divisional defense.
Attack seems the best.

The highest commander I've had was 18 however I got rid of her because I wanted my commanders to be T2 cavs, so currently my highest is 16.

I'm far from experienced in terms of leveling but I maxed out their attack(I believe it's actually called heroism?), then put a point into defy death and uncanny sense and then everything else I've been putting into attack percentages for each type of unit. So my highest level one is putting into spears but I'd got a commander for each type of unit. Once that's maxed out I have no idea what I'll put points into from there.

My main army has a commander group:
Level 24 Marshal in charge of archers
Level 23 Marshal in charge of swords
Level 23 True Shot in charge of poles
Level 20 Swift Steed in charge of light cavalry
Level 17 Marshal in charge of heavy cavalry

All but light cavalry commander are maxed in self attack. Sword & Archer leaders also maxed in their divisional attack speciality. Polearms leader has assorted defence and a few speed levels. Light cavalry leader is maxed in speed with some self attack bonus and some carry goods bonuses (latter made redundant by the new rules for inactives resource generation)

Rest of levels are mostly speed.

Oddly enough makes it light cavalry the best division to add siege to.

Someone has a lvl 70+ commander in Harmless, but I don't recall who.  I have several in high 60s.

I have a lvl 74 commander, a couple of 73's and several in the 60's.

Mostly I max out attack or defense stats (depending on type, atk on cav and infantry, defence on spears and bows), personal first and then divisional.  Then speed.

I wasted a bunch of levels on vitality and healing before figuring out that with current mechanics they are basically useless.  I also have a bunch of defy death levels (which seem to work) and uncanny sense (which I have never had any verification of whether it works or not).

I had all the XP requirements upto lvl 72 figured out in a sheet from a while back but it looks like the formula is different after that.  Anyway lvl 75 commander requires 63609 XP.

Most of the levels up to 68 are documented on Arcanum Illyria's Commander Upgrades page.

Looking at deltas instead of the numbers themselves, I see:
0: 0
1: +10
2: +20
3: +40
4: +60
5: +80
6: +100
7: +120
...

So it would appear that after special case L1=10,  Li = L(i-1) + 20*(i-1)

several mid sixties.

I max personal attack first, along with vitality and recovery.

then a few levels personal defence, then unit type divisional attack attributes.

but i also always have at least one commander per town who goes for speed first up to the max 55% increase (or is it 50%?) then i dont bother for speed on any other commanders.

magic seems a waste but i worry it wil be useful some time when it is almost impossible to level up further.

oh - and dont waste commander skills on poor base units.
