Hey there Illyrians!
I was thinking back to the time when I first began playing, and there were profile contests, and player spotlights where we'd interview players with a series of questions. I'm thinking about perhaps bringing some of that back. What kind of community things would you like to bring back?

Bring back the traditional tournaments of king of the hill with tournament prizes like military units again

What about a 4 time a year tournament like it is now, however, 2 times of the year is the current format, and 2 times a year is the old school format with old school rewards like the soul forged blade and the nice military rewards. A mix of the new and the old and that way even the smaller alliances can compete for rewards

I would like to see prizes for the king of the hill tournaments as well. I liked the elementals a lot but would be great if they could be commanders of an army. I'd also like to see items given with these special troops too :)
I would like to see the seasonal king of the hill tournaments go from 4 per year to no more than 2 per year. I think there should be regional awards and items given here so smaller alliances have incentives to win a square. Thanks!

I would like to see trivia return. I'd also like to see not just KoTH tournaments in the seasonal cycle, but many varieties- hunting, capture the flag (such as I ran once), trade tournaments, and others. A tournament that rewarded actual pvp would be interesting. Others have said that better prizes would be good, and I agree there- I would certainly like to get my hands on some of the old tourney units. They shouldn't be allowed as commanders, but they should be available in reasonable quantity. As commanders, their power would be too great. Different totem options would be good as well- the current set leave something to be desired. Totems that interact with PvE and harvesting might be interesting- a totem to increase NPC drop rates, a totem to increase rare herb patch sizes, a totem to increase the harvest rate of rare minerals. Player spotlights would be good to see once more. These faded out because of a lack of submissions, iirc? Perhaps a return would see more submissions. I would also like to see more advertising. Would it be possible to get Illy onto the epic games store and other similar venues? The steam release brought a flood of new players.

I think a yearly dev hosted Thunderdome would be great going forward. The ruleset for the player tournament Duran was planning before ascending to smurfhood seemed good, maybe that but with developer prizes?
On top of that, something to up the stakes and encourage alliances to get involved in Tourneys would be nice. Maybe make the losers of each region get weaker bonuses in order of occupation time? A lot of alliances take the bonuses for granted, and since the 50% research points never changes, many players have no reason to get involved. I believe that making the bonuses weaker for those who don’t win would make the tournaments more competitive in general. It would also encourage more alliances to build home clusters to be sure they could benefit from the buffs.

Undead Tournament seemed nice, Elementals and Soul-forged and Tinker units as prizes too. Keeping a regular seasonal tournament allows you to pick which ones to do, players don't have to do them all. Research Bonus is nice, not sure if anything could top that, alternatives that have been suggested would be unfair to those that end second in a region, and would encourage hard land claims and evictions/evacuations. |

Def bring back the player spotlight!!! I loved that one. Trivia would be amazing!!!!! Profile contests could be interesting. So could story submissions etc :) A Haiku contest would be funny to see :)

I don't see how it would be unfair? As it is, because the research bonus is such a default thing, the only true bonuses are 1st 2nd and 3rd medals. If tourney units come in, those will likely only be awarded to winners of squares, at the very most. I also don't see the problem with increased landclaims, nor do I think the devs should make decisions based on increasing or decreasing their likeliness.
