Maybe the "Illyriad" logo breaking up is a Sign that there might be a new continent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D after all the map is really Full!

I had thought about that, perhaps a neighbouring Kingdom, hence the game would not just be illyriad anymore.

I think its a bit early - Illy is still not fully developed so a twin continent seems a little unlikely. But not impossible.
I think the factions release is a good guess, although I think the coming tourney will most likely be what the devs are referring to when they mention change.
Think of the rift in Ursor, Audrey in Kumala, the undeads from the nether world, dragons, giants and whatnot, there are all manner of nasties that could impact Illyriad in a significant way and I think the devs are planning a big impact in their next release.
