I just noticed as I logged in today that the welcoming screen looks different to me. The Illyriad logo is cut through and the subtitle (which used to be "carve you empire") now says "Change is coming".
Has the financial crisis found Illyriad as well or what gives?

Dev-blog states a Tweet 13 hours ago... With the same line, but with even less information... As a prophete, I would start talking about end of Illy coming near! But as a humble player, I would say, that soon(TM) seems to be earlier than expected...

Its the breaking of the world and where King Sigurds castle is will be a giant mountain.
Or something more mundane like magic upgrade, pathfinding or another tourny. I suppose we will all find out soon (TM) (its lucky illy patented that before apple did)

the logo art put forward the idea of illyriad being divided to me.... could this herald the arrival of an AI upgrade and active factions?

It 's change worth hyping, must be something good. Battle Magik, Factions, Pathfinding. Those are my guesses in that order. I hope they pull out all three but just one is enough to change everything.
EDIT: BTW, I noticed a week or so ago that the "I" was odd. I just thought I had missed that detail before. I will have to start paying more attention in the future...lol

Maybe the Devs just thought "Finally! *sigh of relief* they start waging wars in earnest. Things had gotten so dull and static..."
Then again maybe not, but wars do more than anything else herald the coming of change. :)

There's a secret IGM going round with details of the new magic. Of course, it could be a prank. It looks amazing if it's true and it would completely revolutionize Elgea - far more than crafting. Assuming for a second that it is true and someone managed to get hold of these (which I'm a tiny bit skeptical about) then it is well worth waiting for!

Just to add something different to the mix ... If it's a fragmented logo, then my bet will be that faction standings will start to become relevant, and hoards of troops (small armies at first) will start to appear on the map.
