Sounds like you're making great progress Cristina.  Thank you for your openness throughout this process.

Best wishes to the new Valar leaders!

Just to give you a sneak peek into what I am HOPING will be the future of VALAR...

To briefly describe the imagined "vision" of the council, how it might look EVENTUALLY (hopefully sooner rather than later):

* 5 (or more) people with equal and (almost?) complete power (on par with former alliance leader)

* a couple of advisors with far less (or even barely any) actual power, but of high standing

* they will mainly use a "council and advisors only" subforum to communicate, exchange ideas, propose actions and vote on them

* every important action will need a 3+ vote from the 5 (or 6) councilors (or 4+ vote from the 7-8 councilors, etc) to be enacted lawfully, but each councilor can make use of "emergency powers" to do whatever they please if needed (then face the consequences in case what they did was wrong)

* councilors may step down at any time after a certain minimal "term of service" (to be determined) or may be removed as per the consequences clause above or due to inactivity, but preferrably, only one at a time ; nominations and self-nominations for new councilors will be collected, the remaining council members will vote yes/no on any nominees (they must vote yes to at least half), then public elections will be held for the (remaining) vetted nominees

That would be (to put it mildly) an inaccurate portrayal of the situation.

From a slightly less than 2 day light absence with occasional check-ins (from Thursday morning to Friday afternoon), I ended up having a slightly over 4 day almost complete absence (from Wednesday afternoon to Sunday evening) with barely a single check-in in just some of the days, a long ordeal of real-life beaurocratic nightmares, a stream of almost freaky bad luck coupled with exhaustion and tales of human incompetence you would not believe (and I really don't want to bore you with details of things I'd rather forget as soon as possible).

I sure was not around much the past 4 days, yet things got done.
Kurdruk might not have had a high forum profile, but do not believe for a second he did nothing at all.
And he wasn't the only one picking up the slack, coalition members pitched in too.

There was remarkably little I actually did - I merely got as many people sitting together as possible (and that was NOT my sole accomplishment, I had plenty of help even there too), getting everybody I could talk to to clearly air out their grievances, tried to find some compromises wherever possible, and then, when I was barely halfway through talking, I had to leave and just quickly peek in a couple of times.

Please do not think for a second this was something a couple of people managed to do.
This was a massive group effort, and if everybody else would not have been extremely reasonable (and surprisingly well behaved considering the forum-vibe against some of them), we probably would be in the same place we used to be a full week ago, or worse.

Reports of the demise of the Valar have been greatly exaggerated.

To the Valar! May you grow and prosper!

Well played all! And thanks for proving the naysayers wrong!

I will say this and I don't I care what the sycophants and brown nosers make of it.

Last of the terms that could be accomplished by me singlehandedly has been completed (finalizing the last coalition-mandatory player kick-out, a grand total of only four accounts - roller, spirit, azreil and darkone).

Also, [Champ] just gratiously offered peace just moments before I was about to leave, which means the hostilities are officially over.
Let's hope they also stay unofficially over too.

All that is left now is to make sure Valar as a team will honor all the remaining minor terms in a timely enough fashion (not many of them left anyway) so hostilities will not need to re-emerge over some small disagreement.
I must say, I am quite content with how things seem to have ended, here's hoping the internal restructuring of Valar will conclude just as expediently as the external conflicts.

Sorry, I must REALLY run now, will be back in (hopefully) around 14 hours or so tops.

Sorry, I'm trying to be as brief as possible, I was "on the road" for the past 78 hours or so (significantly longer than planned), soon to arrive home but dead tired right now already, just logged as the last act of the "trip" to check if everything is ok and answer the few important-looking mails, will handle the rest after a nice long sleep (when I can get to my bed) and taking care of a few minor (but urgent) real-life obligations tomorrow.

Looks like two more wars ended during my absence, bringing the total to 6 out of 7.
The only remaining active war is with Eternal Champions [Champ].

A big thank you to everybody that made this possible, hopefully soon we will have a complete conclusion to this story.

Drejan,
let me point out some little inconguencies in what you said and what your alliance did. I really hate to be so pedantic but it seems you (and Belargyle and Flipper and GNU (today on GC)) keep trying to pass this as normal, when it is not.

let's begin:
1. "we could have razed lot lot more if not for CristinaZah". ---> Of course Cristina and Kurdruk made a wonderful work. We are lucky they are in VALAR. BUT dlord didn't raze lot lot more because, at a certain moment, you realized that a lot of people was considering dlord a bully alliance. I know, you say that now everything stopped because now there's formally peace. We'll never know the truth.
However, here there are some quotes from your friends that perhaps you consider normal:
Belargyle: "Dots, we gave you an out to save 2 of your cities, with no future hostilities". so 7 city razed, very merciful Belargyle. Thank you.
Filpper: "You would have us stop attacking someone who INSISTS on remaining with an alliance we are at war with? This would leave us open to attacks from this account". I'm still asking myself how did I dare to INSIST on staying in VALAR... of course this was referred to all in VALAR.
Kilotov: "hey large ham, yer just a war causality". this just doesn't deserve any comment.

2. "he (referring to me) has not been sieged out of the game at all". ---> it's true, but I still think that it's not thanks to dlord

3. "(if it's dots who is writing)" ---> the fact that I'm an active player and that I post in this thread is really difficult to accept for dlord. Perhaps because I messed up your plans to raze 8 legendary cities like jackals?
dots and this account are the same person. Deal with it. I'll try also to proof it: on my second post on page 24 I explained what dots did in the last months, had access to all dots' igms and could give any detail about past events. Since this is an online game, you will never know if I'm the original dots or a person who had his password for months. However this is not your business and, please, read the thread: by reading it u could have a very strong hint about I've said

4. "For a world war this was a joke so please stop flaming and talking of bullies". ---> perhaps this was a joke compared what u've seen before (hey, you seemed Rutger Hauer in Blade Runner when he says: "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships..."), but in this joke you played the bullies and jackals, all in one. Do you have different opinion? ok, everybody, including other players, have his/her own

Last consideration:
All of your looting and semplicistic reasonings (SirBucketz' "no armies=inactive" and "if the reply is 'yes'=account sitted", flipper's "no post in the forum for months + new forum account created=An interesting change in community face that is", belargyle using a scout report from a destroyed city (of course generated before its destruction) to proof that I was building troops in other cities, your's "if it's dots who is writing" without even reading some of the latest posts) made me waste an enormous quantity of time and, yes, wasted quite a lot of my real money. So I hope this, at least, will help dlord generate less basic thoughts such as: if a player has no presence in forums and replies with few words perhaps he has got few time to play and prefers to sit his account.
