Updates - 14JUN10
- Diplomatic Capture & Interrogation
- Capturing Diplomatic units and Interrogating them did not say how
many units you captured and interrogated; it does now.

- Map Zoom Level "Memory"
- Clicking on various ingame links to the map, including the "View In
Map" buttons on the Trade, Diplomatic & Military Movement summaries
now applies your last level of zoom rather than dumping you back to some
arbitrary zoom level.
This also occurs on the map links inside various ingame email reports
such as caravan movements, scout reports and so on.
- Research Changes
- Some small changes to research:
- The Standing Army technology has had its description changed
to reflect the fact that it doesn't unlock the Top Tier cavalary unit.
It never did - that's what the Warhorse technology is for
- Avoid Interception is now a pre-requisite for researching Blockade
Running
- Blockade Running is now a pre-requisite for researching Break
Trade Embargo
- Diplomatic Units Sudden Death - Issue Resolved
- The problem we experienced yesterday evening has definitely been
comprehensively resolved. Thanks for your patience whilst we worked to
fix it.
Updates - 09JUN10
- Diplomatic Missions, Refunds, Resolutions
- We've refunded lost diplomatic units, with some extra gold and some
beer (either for those who were on quests, or just for those who like to
party!)
However, despite extensive testing, we're not entirely convinced the
issue is 100% closed, so we'd urge people who might suddenly lose units
to open a NEW Petition regarding the loss.
Again, many, many apologies for the inconvenience.
- Diplomatic Units
- We're experiencing issues with Diplomatic missions, and all new
diplomatic missions are currently suspended.
We are working flat out to rectify the issue.
Anyone who has lost units due to this issue will have them refunded, and
we will update here with further information as and when we have it.
Many apologies for the inconvenience.
Updates - 07JUN10
- Account Suspensions
- We've tweaked some of the algorithms that identify players with
"more than 2 accounts", and a further 247 accounts have cropped up.
These accounts have been suspended.
We should add that some players Petitioned us to delete unwanted
accounts on their behalf, so there is not necessarily any stigma
attached to a player with (Suspended) after their playername.
Where we have suspended accounts, we have left the players' oldest 2
active accounts live. We think this is very generous of us, and
requests from players who were breaking the rules to "close this account
instead of that account" will be met with steely silence and foreboding
glances.
As per the Terms & Conditions of Service, Suspended or deleted
account will *not* be eligible for Prestige refunds or transfers if they
had prestige on the account.
If you believe your account has been incorrectly suspended, then please
open a Petition. Suspended accounts will remain suspended until the
weekend, whereupon they will be turned into compost for the Illyriad
fields.
Thank you for your attention.
Updates - 06JUN10
- Ranking & Commander XP
-
Ranking Points and Commander Experience gains are now awarded to
players and commanders according to the level of their participation
in the battle during which the enemy units were slain.
Slaying Commanders (either attacking or defending) no longer gives any
Experience Points or Ranking. You can only gain XP and ranking from
killing troops.
Multiple Commanders from the same player share the experience points
that the player gained amongst them equally.
Example: How the experience and ranking points are now
distributed.
- Take a City with 2 armies from 2 different players defending it
- Army 1 has 2 Commanders and a lot of troops, making up 80% of
"total" city defence
- Army 2 has 4 Commanders and a few troops, making up 20% of "total"
city defence
- An attacker fails to win an attack against this city, and there are
1,000 Experience Points up for grabs
- The 2 Commanders in Army 1 will gain 400 Experience Points each, and
the Player will gain 800 Defense Ranking Points
- The 4 Commanders in Army 2 will gain 50 Experience Points each, and
the Player will gain 200 Defense Ranking Points
This is quite a fundamental change, and means that a third party player
can no longer put commanders in a heavily attacked and 'defended by
other players' city to soak up experience gain and ranking whilst doing
little to nothing in return.
Commanders that have gained experience up to this point using this
mechanism will keep their experience gains thus far.
Ranking points, however, will be adjusted over the next few days to
reflect this new calculation.
