Further add to this that it is pointless to research tax avoidance if you want to increase your over standings in score.  This is unduely weighted for people who choose not to do the research.  should you not bennifit in score by doing extra research not be punished.

This system will therefore reward players who go for - and gain - the greatest profit on their trade transactions.

I just told someone in my alliance about the score reset and I re-read over this.
May I say that this is absurd. The rewarded players arn not those who make the gratest profit but those who make the most trades in the most in-effiecient manner.
Surely trade points could be rewarded based of a factored tax. Ie if you get 50% less tax due to research and faction standing you still get the same score as someone paying full tax. Even better would be if you payed 50% less tax then your ranking will go up by 150% of the base tax

Hi leungarific,

This was a display-only classification bug that applied to your own sell orders - now fixed, I hope.

So...wait...does that mean trade ranks will be reset as well?
Brids17, If we all have the same score (0), then we are all tied for first place (or last place :)) once the reset occurs.

Ouch!

Well, that probably means that a lot of market activity will cease until the new system is fully in place.  I suspect that a lot of my offers were accepted by players trading for the points - which are now worthless.  Unless the point-traders are interested in charity-trades, now there is no incentive for them to visit the marketplace.    This will leave "needs-based" traders such as me with a smaller pool of prospective trading partners.Cry

Which then begs the question...When (LOL) can we expect the new trade-point system to be in place?  (So I can know when to expect to have a more functional marketplace, again...)

How are Trade points awarded under the Trade V.2?

I think under the old system, points were awarded to player based on the quantity of resources the player shipped out.  Profit was not considered in the points.  So trading at a profit actually awarded fewer points to the profiteer and more points to the player that paid the highest price...which always seemed "bass-ackward" to me.

Very much "bass-ackward".

The final release of Trade v2 (when Faction trading and taxation is in place) will means two things:

Firstly, all players' trade points will be reset to zero. Sorry.

Secondly, trade points will then be awarded according to the amount of taxation paid (taxation to Excise in town-to-town trading, or taxation to Factions during trading at Faction hubs).

This will mean it is no longer possible to gain trade points by offering "free item trades".

It also means that the higher your faction standing with an alliance (or the number of "tax avoidance/smuggling" technologies - of which there will be many - that players can research and use on their individual trades) the harder it will become to gain trade score.

This system will therefore reward players who go for - and gain - the greatest profit on their trade transactions.

Regards,

SC

It most especially punished players who traded high-value commodities.  Hopefully points will now be awarded based in some manner on gold quantity involved, so big trades are appropriately recognized.
