This would direct the treasure hunter to scout the lake west of the trade hub Azuria (-149/-484).  The scout report might show a certain amount of rare mineral, herb, or anatomy or a group of rare NPCs to kill for anatomies, which wouldn't show up on the map.  These things would remain there in an unchanging state until removed.

Ooh, I like this.

The scrolls could be picked up from harvesters, and also through quests! It's a nice way to add to the quest system.

Also, the scrolls should be harvestable by ANYONE, but not show up on the map. That way, if it turns out the treasure is somewhere near another player, you need to either hope the miners finish before the other player notices and bumps you to get it themself, or contact them and work out an agreement, without accidently revealing the location of the treasure.

The coordinates provided by treasure scrolls would be a sought after commodity, even though it isn't a physical one. I can see a lot of potential diplomatic fun with these, like treasure hunting contests, players giving false coordinates to trick others, or deciding how to "split the loot."

I have entertained the idea myself of hidden treasures but more along the lines of you yourself being able to dig down you fortunes like in the olden days.
Maybe some newb finds them 100 years from now and goes IIIIIiiiiiiih!

Our highly respected DEVS.

I had a weird, possibly even crazy idea, but it was suggested I share it with you anyway. After all, we know what they say about useless information.

Here's what I thought. How about hidden treasures? We already have units that know they way around with digging equipment, our beloved miners. So I thought, perhaps there could be a way for them to be able to dig in random places, in hopes of finding a valuable treasure!

I am a known crazy person, so I won't hold it against you if you reject this idea. I trust your wisdom and judgement! :)

Respectfully
