Hello !
I admit of always liking to listen to new things, especially from other countries and share things that one can listen only here and thus exchange music that none of us has heard before ... thus I always liked a "translate a song" topics and thought of creating one here ... They might be a bother to post in since they require some work, but imho they are worth it and to "lure" you people to work in translating a local song you like, I thought of making an audiovisual combo with this amazing song combined with visuals from an animated Russian folk tale : ( or this link if the embedded one does not work : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KfpLQshn6A - the song starts immediately, the tale starts at 0:30 for sync reasons, you will see ) The fellow that made the "montage" and merged the song and the tale deserves huge props, but on with the translation. On "column" will contain the lyrics in Greeklish and the other column the actual translation : Mnimes tou nerou / Memories of the water Zo ston kolpisko me tous ligous episkeptes/ I live in a little bay with few visitors sto limanaki mou otan o anemos fysaei/ in that small harbor, when the wind blows vriskoun apaggio spanion koralion syllektes/ find refuge collectors of rare corrals taksideftes pou i zoi den toys xoraei/ eternal travelers which no life can entrap them s'afti tin erimi akri koimatai i Pasifae/ in this deserted beach, Pasifae sleeps mes ta navagia tou vythou, i agapi mou i pikri/ inside the shipwrecks of the depths, my bitter love pou to kleidi tis moiras mou, sta heria tis krataei/ which holds in her hands the key of my fate kamia hara den kanei, oti o ponos stin psyhi/ and no joy can affect the soul as much as pain does Kapoia vradya, tin efere edo to kyma/ and on night, the tide brought her here nekroi asteries lampirizan sta malia tis/ dead starfish were sparkling in her hair "I omorfia", kapoios psythirise, "einai mnima/"Beauty", someone wispered, "is like a tombstone pou afinoun dora oi ksexasmenoi tis agapis"/ where they leave presents those who were forgotten by love" Afou sto fos louzomoun kapote mazi tis/ since I was bathing with her in the light tora pou tis zois to souroupo plisiazei/ now that the dusk of our life is nigh se mia spilia pou na thymizei to kormi tis/ in a cave that will remind me of her body tha aposyrtho kai th' agapiso to skotadi !/ I will retreat and embrace-love darkness Not a happy song and not a happy folk tale, but by God they are both well executed and with a very deep meaning at some points ... hope you enjoy them ... ![]() Edited by Deranzin - 14 May 2014 at 22:58 |
