I really like this idea. I would love to see a new tourny un any form. But this idea is new and that makes it more fun then a tournement the way we had them before. Only one question: what would happen when I have reinforced a square occupied by the kings forces and another player arrives to occupy? Will we defend the armies of king Sigurd together or will our armies clash?

Some "easy" solutions:
At the species level (ranking for a certain species): base the results by kills (in number or total xp, should be relatively similar), not by drops. Overall ranking: base the results in the difficulty to kill rather than the xp (that shows a low correlation between xp and defense for all species together). Difficulty to kill could be, for example, measured as the sum or average of defense stats for a certain species group (troop, e.g., pups, rabid hounds). Diversity ranking: not sure which one used the devs last time. One like H-index or i-10 index look simple and "fair". Cheers, TH |

Also something to offset such advantages are when the locations change week to week

Yeah - I'm saying that these are issues which could be fixed by:
1) Scale XP directly with atk/def stats 2) Adjust skins etc. drop rate based on XP and total number of animals active in the world. |

Success in other tournaments can also be influenced by location. My capital is located 2.5 squares away from the Tamarin tournament square. Even though I'm no great shakes at military, it doesn't take a genius to see that this gives my alliance an advantage.
The capture the square tourneys tend to be weighted toward alliances that are geographically concentrated and/or have cities in lightly populated areas. The animal hunting tournament will tend to favor alliances that are more spread out (at least for the variety of parts portion). The release of the "natural" animal behavior will tend to exacerbate the geography problem from a sheer numbers sense; there are simply a lot fewer animals in Tamarin than in Keshalia, for example, not to mention the poor folks in the newb ring. Even speaking as someone who personally and as an alliance would suffer a disadvantage because of this, I still think it would be fun. The Tamarin Tiger Conservancy does not agree.

My only issue with the hunting tourney was that success was heavily dependent on geographical location since some animals are easier to kill than others, even when weighted by XP and item drops and they have different avg group sizes. |

What about a hunting tournament? There was already one a lot of time ago, and it was fun.
