History of Harmless and War Declaration

Hello all,

Recent call for ceasefire prompted me to hold back on this press release in favor of a more amicable resolution.  However, with the rejection of Harmless's generous terms for peace, White has made clear that their most recent move was merely a ploy to delay Harmless's accelerating advance.  And so we shall stay our hand no further.

The full story is far too long for a forum post, and so is hosted off-site.  For those less interested in the particulars, here are the highlights:

• We tell the story of how we came to Illyriad, and what our beginnings were like (much different from the face of the game today).
• Harmless officially declares war with White and their allies, explaining both the background and recent developments that have brought us to this position.
  
• Toothless (newbie/training alliance) is not involved in any way, save being under our protection from any aggression.
• This war began in many ways before White ever existed.
• Asylum may be granted for enemy combatants depending upon past level of participation and leadership, and losses already sustained in war.
• Recent peace talks were used only as a delay tactic against our retribution--White as an alliance has burned all bridges and shall be shown no further mercy.

No doubt our opponents will have much to say in response, and they are welcome to it.  Harmless will not be fielding any discussion at this time.  This press release is to make our position and our reasoning behind it clear, and nothing more.  The last opportunity for reasonable discussion was lost with White's absurd expectations of near-complete absolution for all their offenses, with no justice nor even a safety net against their capricious attitude toward peace.

This was a great read.  I recommend it to everyone.  I hope WHITE writes their own version and everyone reads it as well.  Everyone should have an open mind and know both sides of the story.

Interesting read. Kinda makes me wonder. How old are you guys?

Fair enough - after reading the storyline I cant help wondering how can you invest so much work into a game. Ive seen it in many games eg. WOW and the like (often teenagers hanging a little too long in front of the computer), but for any browsergame this seems excessive, after all it may feel as time well spent but its just a fleeting parcel of data in cyberspace. Dont you ever just get enough of it and call up the ex-girlfriend or something?
