iirc largest amt 1 thief can hold is 74, the orc t2 thief
does the city have significant amounts of sov/diplo stuff that might be sucking out the gold? |

Apparently then it is not reasonable to think it is a theft problem as one thief can carry 300 gold max. Bigger players who can afford mountains of thieves wouldn't bother with the gold showing in my report and why should they having mountains of gold themselves. So i don't know the answer but maybe the devs will address it. Ty

The cities that I have heard this reported for have been fairly widely geographically distributed. There are not that many folks with 50k plus thief armies, and counting travel time unless they are all coordinating with each other it seems unlikely that a lot of 50 million gold cities would be cleared before a siege ends, often within a matter of a day or two after the scout report. But it's still a very small sample, so I think it's early to conclude that it's a coding thing.

To take 5M it would require something like 80k thieves which would require something like .3M/hr in upkeep. So you would need to use them every week or so otherwise it would cost you more to just have all the thieves.

Well, with basic thieves cleaning out the res followed by advanced thieves you can milk 4-5 million in gold per hit. Hit it a few times and 50 million goes away fast.

Maybe the spy reports are not always entirely inaccurate.

I've heard a lot of reports of "missing" gold after a successful siege, where it was reflected in spy reports. In most cases it seems like more gold is missing than could be explained by thieves (tens of millions of gold). I suspect something has changed in the coding. Or maybe there are just a lot of thieves out there. Would be interesting if the devs would comment if indeed there is something in the coding that somehow limits the gold captured from a long inactive city.

I have had a couple of asst'd sieges already. I noticed that my scout/spy reports showed a lot of gold before the siege but not so much after i took the city. So, my question is: is a siege a big ole target for thieves? Who would know since the player is inactive and the city abandoned. Since no one is at the controls anything can happen. Right?
