Do you think that the big elgean players and alliances  should or should not interfere with the going ons of the southern continent.

It doesn't really matter what I think about this as the GA types clamoring for war on BL will do what they want anyway as would any other alliance.

And if someone wants to wage a war with 2 to 3 week trip times for sieges be my guest, but it will prove an exercise in futility. War at such distances is pointless especially against cluster alliances.

No. Most of the Broken Lands is populated by players who have sent some cities to that continent, or else have an alt there. If the lands were meant to be separate, the devs would have made it take much longer to get there. As it stands, they changed it to be easier, which is why you can move there faster now.

No. Everyone should do whatever they want in game as long as it's within the rules. Also, what Brandmeister said. If the intent was separate environments the devs could have restricted or disallowed interaction.

Here is what I think on this whole matter.

Those who have a city or more in TBL are fine poking their nose in BL politics and alliances as it may actually affect them, however the massive 20 city people who don't have a single city in TBL should keep their noses out of something that doesn't affect them and wont until they decide to move a city down to TBL.

The whole thing of we can't say who settles where is a BS excuse to try and keep a hold on how the entire server runs. All of the massive 20 city people do the exact same thing with the 10 square convention all we are doing is trying to prevent the situation of someone having to move out of an area we are already in just because we outgrew them.

as an account that moved down to bl all should be involved...lets play the game, its exciting how this new land has changed the strategy, the question should be how scared should the old lands be of the new lands! i think they have more to fear from us! game on!

"This is the GM'S guide The Broken Lands FAQ | Illyriad" Yes! Feel free to attack, guard, aid or feint your way into the new lands. It’s a dangerous area, so it was important to us to make action possible.

BL was made in my view for fighting and to add a new aspect to ILLY. for all to have fun but with the land claims this can limit that.

This land is for all players no rules just have fun.  all should have a say in this.

I think it's worth keeping in mind that there are alliances predominantly based in Elgea with interests in the Broken Lands. It's also worth noting that even alliances who are effectively entirely based in BL have an interest in Elgea, and especially the newbie ring.

So some overlap is going to occur, and some Elgean alliances should take an interest in developments in the Broken Lands. What those, and other, alliances need to realize is that just because we're not on different servers doesn't mean that we must all abide by the same conventions. Illyriad's gameplay, and the position of the Broken Lands offers us, the community, an opportunity to cater for many different playstyles and that's an opportunity which should not be squandered.

So, to my mind, it's not a question of interference or not but a question of approach. Should 'Elgean' alliances approach the political dynamic in the Broken Lands with the same mindset that currently dominates Elgea? No, but that doesn't meant that they should not engage with the Broken Lands.

I did not see any important comment by players not having towns in BL. Most big alliances have at least big outposts down there.

Thus the question is aimed at about 5 players not having towns in BL AND posting in forums?  Wink

Any alliance will choose as it thinks it fits best for that one alliance.

People can say pretty much anything they want in global chat and on the forum, but one's own capabilities and those of one's allies in an area will determine how seriously these comments are taken.  I might express an opinion about the climate in The Wastes, but since my cities are in Tamarin and my alliance mostly in eastern Elgea, no amount of hot air will melt those glaciers.

Similarly the opinions and preferences of players and alliances that have a presence in Elgea matter to the degree to which they can actually influence events.  There are quite a number of alliances that have a presence both in Elgea and in Broken Lands.

I have an alt that is in an alliance that exclusively exists in Broken Lands.  Should I have "more" of a say about how other people play in Broken Lands because of that?
