I like it.
Adding the ability to change any basic resource plot to another basic resource plot (within limits of course) would open up things like 7 food mountains, without having to do super long and tedious terraforming. That would be a BIG plus. Especially where in real life a person can easily do stuff like plant a farm anywhere they want just by building up the soil there. And this wouldn't be adding anything that can't be done currently through terraforming, howbeit much quicker than via terraforming. So I think adding the ability to change one type of resource plot to another for a price is a good thing. Obviously the price will want to be very high. It could even require prestige. Non-prestige players should remember that gold can be converted to prestige at a certain rate in the market via scrolls. So requiring prestige does not prevent non-prestige players from doing stuff that requires prestige anymore. |

I was thinking the other day about a new school that would fit well into current Illyriad mechanics but also be a bit disruptive: Transmutation. Basically, it would enable you the ability to turn one resource into an "interchangeable resource" (maybe gold") at a very heavy cost (let's say for argument's sake 3 to 1). You could then change that gold into another resource depending on your search. I image the first tier of abilities would be a one-time spell for tuning dust into any basic resources (wood, iron, stone, clay, food) The second tier of abilities could then turn it into advanced resources (swords, armors, gold). The third tier could instantly turn one basic into another for an-going basis. Imagine if you could turn +1000 stone into just +333 food per hour? This would open up a lot of new possibilities and strategies for city/empire management. You could also incorporate a T2 building that would increase the efficiency of both turning resources into dust and dust into resources. You could even incorporate some of the materials that are yet to be used as well. Anyway, just thought I should share my idea. Smile |
