   Born April 16, 1889. Known for his archetype character, the Tramp. He was not only the biggest, most beloved personality of the silent era, world wide but he was also a comedic genius and a master film maker. 

Those unfamiliar with his body of work, I recommend starting with one of these: The Kid, The Gold Rush, City Lights, Modern Times and The Great Dictator. Each is an individual masterpiece. Each brought something new to motion pictures which endures to this day.
