Topic: refreshing pages/tabs/whateverTheyAreCalled...Posted: 17 Jul 2012 at 20:48 |

Hi all, I have noticed if I want to read new mail, which I receive whilst on the mail page I have to click out of mail then back onto mail to update my mail, otherwise new mail doesn't show up, just the green mail notification. this also happens with other tabs/pages, I have to leave said page then re-enter to refresh it. This is all new, didn't used to do this. I am using FF mozilla.

Hi Rill, thanks for the reply. It never used to happen with firefox, for me. Started happening during the last major update. Before if I was on the mail page, I could click on the mail page again to refresh, now doing this is unresponsive, I have to click onto another page then back on mail...

It has always been this way. If you are on a page (mail for example) and you click the icon to go to the same page you are already on - it does not refresh.
I think it was designed that way as being "smart" or saving performance for accidental clicks - but by god it's annoying not to be able to refresh the page you are on by clicking the icon again. |

I have not noticed this problem before, actually I am sure this wasn't a problem, but if two experienced players are telling me I'm wrong, who am I to argue, the gods quote is just hypothetical bs, as if....but i agree.. by the gods....which I do not believe in...but I do like the plural bit, Gods, its a bit pagan/ gork and mork, but still meaningless bs...

I think Harmless Butler might correct this "problem." Has something to do with whether or not there's a slashy mark in the url or something. But I might be remembering it wrong.

Butler fixes this issue (which has indeed always been this way) by alternately including/excluding a trailing slash from the /path or #/path portion of the url to ensure it differs from the url you're currently viewing.
It works by rewriting each url as you mouse over the link providing it using a real-time comparison against the current path, so it's quite efficient and reliable (provided you don't navigate the page via keyboard). I should actually change it to operate onmousedown so that it will work in mobile browsers and other touch interfaces as well, and probably will in the next release. |
