Topic: Coastal Sov, Where Are We Now? Posted: 31 May 2012 at 00:22 |

Players will soon be able to send armies to coastline squares and claim sovereignty on them.
They will then be able to build a new structure "Fishing Hut" and claim additional food sovereign bonuses. There will be new sovereign technologies for building Fishing Huts of various sovereign levels up to 5, and these will need to be researched before the structures can be built.
We will also be adding new NPC squares and unique NPC graphics onto Coastline squares.
Coastline remains unsettlable, and - whilst you can send armies to occupy coastline squares - we are going to continue to prohibit players from using coastline squares to Siege or Blockade a town. Please be advised, however, that this will change in the future with semi-amphibious naval units.
We anticipate that we will be releasing the new technologies and allowing players to claim Coastline Sovereignty and get food bonuses from these squares within the week. |

Sorry for the lack of updates on this. We've had some unexpected delays in fully releasing coastline sovereignty. The latest update that I have on timing is sometime in the next 2 weeks. Thanks for being patient with us. |

Another quick update on coastline sovereignty. GM SC and I discussed this today and (as someone in another thread put it) the team is going to focus on fixing sov before adding new features to it. So, at this time we are going to work on some existing bugs within the system as well as adding in the new coastline sov feature. We are still, at this time, on track for the schedule I posted last week and this should not extended the delay any further. Again, thanks for understanding and being patient with us, as always. |
I copied these information releases here to keep the sov releases together (if anyone else is interested).
Is "the team" fixing bugs with sov or are you re-working the present system? I didn't realize there were bugs with sov and if there are and the team is fixing it "soon" can you release the bugs so we can avoid them? If it's not bugs then are you re-working the entire concept?
The first and last anticipated times came and went. Is there a new anticipated time for the sov "stuff release" (whatever that includes ) or has this process gotten completely FUBAR?
Thanks

Some of the current sov bugs that I've heard about are potentially exploitable. I don't think they're going to rush to advertise them.

We are very aware that we are still late on this. I remind the dev team as often as I can without beating any dead horses about it. As soon as there is some good news, I'll be the happiest person in the world to post it. :)

speaking of a dead horse, perhaps a stronger sort of reminder is needed? :) /joking

While waiting for my fishing lessons to begin, I've been feeding my minions the rats I've been stomping on. "Bite sized little morsels of goodness", is what I call them on the dinner menu.

You do realize that until you say "sov isn't coming out and will never be fixed" or "sov is so messed up we're reworking the entire thing" people will be wondering how soon is soon and some will ask?
Not trying to beat a dead horse, just asking because I care :)

Do you realize that they're not going to tell us and it is therefore relatively pointless to ask? Sorry to sound harsh, but I've been around for a while, and if they knew, they'd tell us. The fact that they are not telling us means that they don't know. They might have some good guesses, but they will not likely commit until they are very sure. (Partly because it results in stuff like this.)
