Make a siege engine type mover, for towns of couse that will be so expensive that it is very hard to use. Say 1K cows 1K horses 300K resources and 5K an hr upkeep, and you cant be building or learning anything while you move, basically turn your town into a settler again. Then to top it all off it takes one level off of everything in your town building and resource wise (unless it's at one). If the mod's wish put some heavy price of prestige on top of that and moving would not be common.

We are considering options for moving towns, however if we do I think it would be unfair to only let large established players move.

What we need is a system for moving towns that doesn't allow for it to be exploited and also includes the new players and smaller alliances.

Maybe the size of the city could determine the amount of resources needed to move?  Using the new city sizes described in UI v2, we could have say 3k(10lv) basics needed and 50(5lv) horses and cows.

While it is a very useful feature, there are some flaws in the ability to move cities - not least of all being that you can only move your Capitol.

I agree with the facility, people don't often decide on what alliance to join until they have been here for some time and often the alliance they join is some distance away from them.

Having said that, it would be interesting to have a facility that would allow you to move all towns/cities although I think that to prevent it being exploited, it should be limited to say once per year.

In addition, again to prevent exploitation, I think that if a player is a member of an alliance that is at war or has come under attack, the facility should 'freeze' until either the war has been declared over or the player has not been attacked for 28 days.  If this was adopted, there would have to be some exceptions I guess as a war should not prevent a new member to an alliance from moving towards their alliance area, and thus the war zone, only prevent them from moving away from it.

Harmless is "at war" against 5 alliances...
3 of them are already dead, the remaining 2 are dummy 0 pop alliance...

So if we adopt your idea, harmless member would probably never be able to move away from our hubs, since there is always some stupid enough to make fake alliance with a second account and declare war.

Also, how would you define "alliance area".

I'd rather like a moving mechanism where the moved town becomes more vulnerable for some time... (like loss of the wall , barack or some other building...)

lol - I didn't say the idea was perfect BartimeusWink

There would have to be some refinements to it to take into account such situations as you mention there - for some reason alliances like Harmless seem to attract the kind of attention you get on a regular basis.  I guess that's the price you pay for being so popular! Tongue

I think that this moving-inside-the -alliance-area idea... is pretty cool... The mechanism sounds cool too. What will help me the most is the "alliance area" one... But as bartimeus said we cant expect everyone to have an alliance... So the mechanism sounds better and fair.

What i wanted to say though is that.. there are some of us that face problems , that this moving ability would fix.. For example, my capital city "Gluttony" cannot get Sov Squares,  because all the squares around are  taken as Sovs. And im pretty sure that im not the only one with that prob, you cant expect 100 alliances to just move all together on the other side of the map and not face problems like that..
If i could move my city 10 squares away then i would solve my prob.. just 10 squares :/

there are problems like that all around illyriad. Its not just me..
