In a sponsored terraforming project it's faster to settle on a 7 food square, and let the sponsor raze the initial 5 food capital.  After that the new 7 food capital can jump.

River sov fixes the second problem. http://elgea.illyriad.co.uk/#/World/Map/-921/859 is an above average spot if you teleport in 7 farm plots. There are others out there as well; it would take a lot of time but you could easily find room for 10 cities.

Beecks, this is an example of precisely the drawback of adjacent 0 sqs.  It is NOT an above average spot at all. Yes you could get river SOV at the location mentioned, IF you could Tenaril there.  You can't because it would be within 10 sqs of the town to the north on the next island where someone has Tenaril'd onto the mountain, for one thing.  The other is that you cannot land towns on the sqs by the location you posted. Whoever went there would have to survive on water sov, and the ground beneath them from Tenaril, but you could not import any other towns to the sqs next to it, as they have 00000 configurations.

I imagine some would pay a good bit of gold for the month or two of work that it takes to exodus then tendril.

The plan is to target a section of the player base that would for the majority, still have the teleport skill. There is no plan to grab someone to constantly make secondary accounts to slowly terraform but rather offer the choice of terraforming to someone and offer high amounts of gold or basic/advanced items to teleport then have their city razed.

I have noticed in some cases, like the test site with its spear production sov, that there is some good sov out there in these harsh areas. I'd imagine it could eventually be profitable to trade off Terraform sites in return for adv/gold, just the workload one would have to put into it.

So in short, I was planning on (Once TLR debts are covered) to reach out to players who still have the teleport spell and offer them a contract for this Terraforming Site. Of course I'd have to bring up the cons of doing this to make it an informed descion for the player in question.

To clarify, a square must have at least 1 food to be able to settle or move a town there.  The value of the other resources does not matter for this purpose.

The 0-food patches in Elgea may very well host other "special features" such as the Rift in the future.

Less then 2 weeks are needed and no exodus... but still if someone is going to do it, he would do it for himself and his main account.

As I read in some other thread, and EF himself mentioned (though not here, I think): the game seems to prevent you from being able to teleport onto a 0-food square in the first place.  So that cuts down some of the terraforming options, but I suppose there is still a good bit of sub-par land that could be improved...
