Don't think the terraforming project was ever designed to cheat anybody.  I am surprised that some players feel the need to use emotive words like "violation".

Repeated alt Abandonment was never the goal with this project. A one time offer was made to a new account holder. Once that account's teleport was used, they were sent on their way. The actual goal here was to see if it could be done. Not only is it feasible but it was addressed by the authorities and did passed muster. The specific site in this instance as well as any long term development of said site was secondary.

It seems to me this "experiment" was successful and is now over.

If you're doing something that may be a violation of the game rules, or something that requires stealth and subterfuge, why talk about it in the public forum? Keep it to yourself if you want to get away with it.

If it's against the rules to repeatedly make throw-away accounts for the recruit-a-friend prestige, shouldn't it also be against the rules to make throw-away accounts to terraform for the benefit of your main account?

The devs haven't seemed too concerned yet (I feel like they made a comment about it somewhere), so I guess it will stay the way it us until whenever it becomes a big enough problem.  It could take quite a while to reach that "every square is 7-food" point though.

Also, I suspect settling a second town and sieging (or having someone else siege) the first is a lot faster and cheaper than reaching the point where you can exodus the first.

I  don't understand why this approach to terraforming is still legal.

The devs have already announced that terraforming will be introduced at one point. In the meantime, metagaming to the extent where you restart your alt account repeatedly to recieve continuous teleports just doesnt seem to be in the spirit of the game.

I realise the actual work necessary to do the exodus and teleporting may be significant, but lets not kid ourselves here; using the teleport to alter the tile values is obvious opportunistic metagameplay and should not be allowed. Instead terraforming should be regulated by the devs gamedesign.

Also I'm not sure if this is common information or not, but when teleporting cities the terrain the city used to be on is reverted to plains, but keeps the resource allotments. Teleporting a 7 food city onto a lesser food square creates two 7 food tiles. This means that over a long period of time you could turn Illyriad into a large plain of 7 food squares.

Ex TLR2 and TLR member, back when he was in TLR2 I enlisted their help in cataloging information that was tested in the terraforming, Maj volunteered to help out with that.
That city was planted on Oct 20, around the time I informed him of the spot and project, being about.. a month and a half old I don't think he'd be willing to pack it up and move.

Though this terraforming did prove that even if you teleport in new terrain and have a city sieged on the new terrain, it didnt reset back to its old.

So I was ready to go pay a few more people in minerals and gold/resources to teleport their city's to be razed for the sake of terraforming when I went to look at the original terraform spot I worked on earlier this year.

A player by the name of Majestyk took advantage of the tedious terraforming and stole it.
Good job :(

I will terraform no longer, don't see a purpose to it if people will come along and plant a city down when you are working on something, so I declare this project is now closed.

He probably meant selfishly.  It's all part of Angrim's diabolical plot to ...

Oops, I'm not supposed to talk about that.
