LadyLuvs is one smart cookie.  Could also relate to pathfinding, since these troops seem "aware" of things they are passing over enough to know that they are an army and should attack them rather than proceeding directly from point A to point B.

Theories so far:

1. They spawn in darkness and hide in daylight.
2. They reproduce from cows (or other) sacrifices.
3. They reproduce from enemy deaths. (I don't think this is likely)
4. They hover around randomly and attack squares they are headed towards.
5. Perhaps they head towards enemy units in particular. (again this seem unlikely at the moment)
6. A few strong and reinforced armys in the area would likely reduce their numbers as it would mean fewer deaths to players and allow more deaths to the undead.
7. (LadyLuvs suggested this to me) Perhaps this is just a method of testing future faction troops.
8. They learn from previous exploration and adjust accordingly. (Again not enough evidence yet.)

Ill add more as they come to me.

They have not attacked faction camps that I've seen.  There are many faction camps in the area.  I will ask Ryelle to forward you a report so you can check the stats on the skeletons.

Omg... there's probably some sort of discrimination going on in the handouts you are doing...

No troops at all in the attacking army.  Ryelle can send you the XML file if you're interested.

Probably the same phenomenon that cropped up with the elementals.  Where there negative troops in the attacking army?
