   Hello,

I guess the title of this topic doesn't sound very interesting, so thank you, that you clicked on it.
This format isn't about the important lore informations (like factions and their relations), but I just want to show, how much fun one can have with lore and what a loremaster actually does.
This post won't give great insights, some of the stories here will be funny, others will be boring, everyone is allowed to post either to give feedback or to share his own stories.
I have a few things myself that I will post here and maybe I will get some additional ideas over the time as I won't post very regularly (or nobody is interested and I will already stop after two topics   ).
I hope that there are at least a few persons, that are interested and maybe some of our stories here will also be interesting for JJ.

So let's get started.

	Dwarven secrets – Platinum in Illyriad A few weeks ago I made some research about different time systems in the lore. Just to give one example: There is that idea of the three ages in Illyriad, which doesn‘t completly match with the year count of the Council of Illyria, because their year 0 is somewhere in the middle of the second age. Nevertheless it seemed to be one of the most used time systems in Illyriad, which led me to the question wether I could identify other systems in the lore of various factions. As the headline already shows this post won‘t be about different time systems and year counts, but on my research I came across the dwarven factions and especially acroos the following passages: “These heroes hailed from none other than Clan Moedagh, and during the Platinum Century, the Clan was the powerful right arm of Clan Baelagh“ - profile of Clan Moedagh „It was said that during that glorious century where Duraz Karag prospered beyond belief, what we now call the Platinum Century“ – profile of Clan Baelagh My first thought was nice at least they have different names for their ages, but one minute after I wondered: “Why are the calling it the Platinum Century?“ So I did some research as you might already now there is now mineral called “Platinum“ in the world of Illyriad at the moment. That isn‘t a problem at all, because maybe the secrets of it were lost when the dwarves lost Duraz Karag. So I looked up information about Platinum online. It‘s a quite expensive metal, that is mostly used in catalytic converters, laboratory equipment, electrical contacts and electrodes and jewelry. That made me curious, because the only things dwarves could have used it for is actually for jewelry and in the real world it was considered worthless for a very long time, so it seemed incomprehensible, why the dwarves named their “golden“ century that way. Maybe one day Platinum will be introduced in the world of Illyriad or maybe we will get further information about what dwarves did with the platinum. I actually don‘t know wether JJ has ever thought about the fact, but I‘m curious wether the dev-team will try to use it for their purposes. Edited by Othello - 07 Feb 2025 at 14:06
