Please don't, I fully agree with what you and others said here. I've no difficulty to read the new Herald. Chrome had small issues to display it fully at 110%, this works now as it should.
The new Herald is hopefully a smaller download than the old huge everything on one page mess -- as long as I'm not on reduced bandwidth and don't clear my browser cache I can't tell for sure. But there are other "fancy font" elements, example:
City Research Tree
With reduced bandwidth and an empty browser cache it's a serious pain to download this whatever it is. Wrt fonts I violently support the traditional approach: The client has some fonts, minimally one mono-spaced, one serif, one sans-serif, the server is free to state its preferences, and the user is free to overrule it with a "use my preferred fonts anyway".

Hi Herbalist From that point your original comment makes much more sense and I apologise for my response.

To clarify my peevish post for which I apologise sincerely.
For 10 years I ran a charity which purchased computers for and taught their use to sight and mobility impaired people. One of the big issues they have is the lack of accessibility of web sites. Many sites got on board with accessibility/inclusiveness several years ago and appreciated certain visual aspects of usability that tended to preclude some members of our societies. I felt the new Herald body-text font was a step backwards in this regard.
It's true that many Gothic/Medieval fonts are truly horrific, but there are some that are easier to read, especially for the body text. They are not as fancy I'll agree, but "the mood" of Illy, for those who can see, is extremely well set with the other graphics on the screen that do not impact on legibility.
Of course, I am not talking about accessibility for people who are totally blind, because designing for screen-reading software is a separate skill requirement for developers which may not be seen (pun intended) to be relevant to highly graphical games sites.
Anyhow - sorry folks, I'll keep my *views* to myself from here on.

Bansisdead, I presume that comment was tongue in cheek? As already pointed out my lazy comment was refering to the post by Herbalist. If you chose to read it out of context then that's your choice...

I have a sight problem, some may say a disability, I have trouble reading the Illy Herald font. Am I considered lazy? I really think people should consider what they say before they make rash comments. I am also active on the forums, so it isn't a big problem, but as the OP said it would make life easier.

I don't see any problem with reading the Herald, font wise or language wise. English is not my birth tongue, but like any language I work in, if I don't understand a word or phrase I will search out the meaning (ie a bit deeper than google translate lol). And as several others have postulated, this is a RRP and the Herald concept fits that premise. As for people who do not check the forums; it's their loss! I do not live here but I make sure I regularly check new postings just like I always read new herald articles-a necessary part of Illy life :)

/me puts on her comfy slippers, gets a glass of wine, a footstool and her bifocals to read The Herald.

The optimist sees the glass to be 1/2 full; the pessimist sees it to be 1/2 empty and the engineer sees that the size of the glass needs to be changed!

Thank you for the clarification Deafis, since you did not quote the text, it was hard to tell who the post was regarding.

The lazy comment was in regard to the 'herbalist' post not the initial post. But as is the forum norm it was misinterpreted again. All for making Illy life easier just not that easy :)

The reason I suggested it was to make it more "hassle free and user friendly," make Illy life easier.
