Topic: Starting an Alliance Posted: 09 Mar 2010 at 10:31 |

Hi,
Does anyone know what is required to start an alliance?
I have tried looking around but can't find any information.
Cheers

To found a new alliance you need to learn the diplomatic skill Finesse.

Am writing the guide to Alliances as we speak...! ETA tomorrow sometime. But yes, Diplomatic Skill Finesse is required, and 1000 Gold for an alliance Charter from the Council of Illyriad. Heads up to everyone, though - we * will* be introducing a weekly Gold cost of running an alliance. We're just tinkering with the numbers and dependencies at the moment. The cost will scale with the size of the Alliance - and whilst it won't be ruinous, it will be noticable. Best wishes,

I lie, hugely. Too many things ingame requiring attention atm - the alliance guide is a good few days away (sorry)

Will jumping from alliance to alliance still provide runners protection
from attacks that are launched while they are in an alliance at war with
another?

No, we're going to put an "alliance hopping" cooldown timer in place. You will not be able to join another alliance until 6 hours have elapsed since leaving your old alliance. During this period you will be deemed "neutral". I should add that this is not directly a response to a particular player's (rather imaginatively excellent) use of the ingame mechanics, but rather something we had on the todo list but forgot to implement :) We managed the War Pending timer, but forgot the "alliance move" timer.

Heh, no... Just closing an exploit loophole involving trade offers. When I saw some completely unfillable trades out there (Offering 2 books in return for 50K wood etc) it got me thinking "Why would someone do that?". And then I realised.

What does this mean in terms of attacks that are already in progress to the player who leaves their alliance?
