In addition, use common sense. While it's easy to claim to want a fair fight on a forums to look better to the public, would you really want the people who were in your alliance for the past six months to risk losing to a smaller alliance? Imagine how that would make you look.

Common sense isn't common. Anyway, I really couldn't care less how I look in this game, so maybe this is why I fail to see why it would matter.

How is that relevant? Are the armies you built only two weeks old? Did you guys only start building troops when you got into the war? Everyone should have had their troops maxed out before the war, or at least close to it.

We didn't lose a war, shelter in other alliances, and then reform to attack the victor, though? I don't understand how you think the two alliances are in the same situation? There are not just two sides or teams like in sports. There are actual people coming from two different backgrounds. That is why what I said is relevant. Illyriad is perhaps the most strategic sport in existence if you view it in such a fashion.

EDIT: And yes, we were totally blindsided by this blitzkrieg. It's crazy how much like WW1 to Versaille to WW2 this is. Except we were more fair than Versaille since real life has more depth than even Illyriad. So don't feel bad for them on that aspect. We offered to find them new alliances after they broke a peace agreement we had with them the first time and we won the resulting war. We did this to prevent this exact situation of fighting a third time, ironically, as the only alternative was to siege every last one out of the game after the first time the peace was broken.

EDIT2: Besides if they had asked nicely we would have happily fought under terms like no city destruction and no raiding new players or something.

close but no cigar. there was never a cease fire in the first war, we were talking about peace and wham we are being sieged. we fought with all we could but we were unable to siege ourselves. so i see it as only fair that we blitz krieg 'd you guys.(my army is actually named Blitz Krieg)

Ah. I see. It all hinged upon the word of a now inactive player.

The war is concluded, as StA is willing to declare victory to S&B in that their blitzkrieg was indeed successful in causing sufficient unanswered damage to StA to qualify as victory yet in a way that StA sees no gain in trying to reclaim what was taken, especially when our newly built troops know there is a tournament ongoing. For now there is a cease fire between StA and S&B which will only be broken by prior warning.

In agreement with zork2010, leader of S&B, I've released StA's inactive players per his specific request. We were holding them for our newest wave of players to capture the choicest of cities and I will have to insist that he leave at least one 10k+ city for Folly to capture, a new player who devoted his growth to barracks in pursuit of capturing the largest cities from our largest inactives.

Currently, someone (I assume S&B although one camp is neutral) is sieging the largest of the inactive cities of their own initiative, so I'll have to request here in public as well as in the messages I sent zork for S&B or whoever to leave one 10k+ population city out of the several available for Folly of StA to capture in order to reciprocate on our releasing the inactives in the first place. I'm assuming the neutral camp is Roller, which is fine I guess GeekClownParty Cool, but scouts are headed there just in case.

The start of the first war was due to Noryasha Grunk. He/she was endlessly atacking a  noob alliance. when we finally had enough we fought back and lost. we were sieged to no end. we lost many cities. we are back and we are ready to fight.
Get your popcorn ready and enjoy the spectacle.

This is basically the motivation for WWII, amongst the German people.  Not the psychotic lunatics at the top, the people themselves who one must admit had something of a legitimate gripe.  This should be interesting.

Edit: I should read the whole thread before responding, since I'm far from the first one to mention the Versailles connection.

Zork has returned my message with an agreement, and it's very fair all around and I plan to stick by the cease fire until whenever we agree to continue aggressive action.
