socialismism

I noticed a wall of text in GC today referring to Socialism.  It stated Socialism was a failed economic concept, it could not work and will not work.  Whilst I agree one economic philosophy alone is doomed to fail, why is it that some believe Socialism is destined to fail what ever?  As I see it all western cultures use some form of Socialism, if that be public highways/motorways/libraries/police/fire forces and so on.  So why do some people still believe a tried and tested economic philosophy is set to fail even tho it has and does benefit society?  btw Im a raging commie....up the reds....I'm a commie not a Socialist...but a commie who can see that a mixed economy is probably better than a pure capitalist or communist economy.  Also whilst many wil point out the failures of socialism in old soviet states, I can point out massive failures in western capitalist cultures aka banking  CRISIS.  Your thoughts....
