I agree that at the very least in large battles (involving over 1000 men) catapults should have some effect.

I play Total war, and i looked at my armies, which got me thinking..

Why don't my Trebuchets do any damage if used to attack or defend against enemies?

Trebuchets should do damage, and like other units have bonuses and problems in different terrains.

Tortoise should help lowering the defensive bonus of walls when used in a normal attack against a town. not destroying the wall, but lowering the bonus by maybe 20-30% (not for each unit ofcourse)
