Ho and why didn't anyone mention wooden sheild?

I agree with G0DsDestroyer. Shields should be thought about to be added. Maybe not to this server but the next ( If There will Be another.

Just shooting off a couple of ideas which i liked.
In another free game I played (empire universe 2), millitary units aren't actually "fully made".
What they do is have different chassi and different weapon and module (cargo, cloacking, sheilds) and we get to choose what we equipe our units with (depending on availability and efficiecy).
the chassis could also be reequiped with better stuff once they are researched.

@G0DsDestroyer: Are you trying to double the length of your thread by simply copying posts?  If you go on with it, you could reach those (currently) 27 pages of the H? thread  Crafting would perhaps enable shields, but would it really be better having variable troop types, as we yet don't even know the entire mechanism of battle? (troopnumbers, terrain,...). I think it's complex enough for this game, else that would be really hard reballancing all the troopstats. After some thinking, I need to redraw my +1 on this topic

I don't think the GMs are looking to add more resource types. My memory could be playing tricks on me, but I think they've shot ideas like this down before. I like the idea of having optional equipment though that adds bonuses to your troops. This may be implemented in the form of crafting, which is unfortunately at the bottom of the Newness list.
