I'm seeing exactly the same symptoms, still. This effectively expels me from the game. Maybe the others who were grumbling have simply given up and walked away.

I can't speak for everyone, but I have no longer been having problems and have been hearing far less complaints from others.
Perhaps the issue was fixed? |

We are not experiencing any issues right now, but it is possible that we have.
You don't HAVE to try another browser, move your house, etc etc, but the reason people ask you to try one is not out of laziness... it's because we want to see if your browser is having an issue. It's very possible. Feel free to post any updates! Rikoo

So, having failed to find a way to tell Vivaldi to clear its caches, I exited and rummaged in my file-system, deleting a vivaldi/ sub-directory under ~/.cache/ and clearing out other random cruft with which assorted applications have littered my home directory.
On restarting and logging in again, I still see "Welcome to Illyriad" (duplicated) and a spinny wheel in the top left corner of the window. I am functionally shut out of the game, apparently by some inadequately-tested change to the page scripts. The answer "use another browser" is so '90s. Sure, I'll move house to somewhere in the next state, change my name, buy a bigger screen and switch to a less secure operating system in order to fit in with some web designer's failure to actually do his job properly, why not ? If it claims to be for the web, it should work in all reasonably modern standards-conforming browsers. |

Fewer online than usual might mean many unable to get online !
I found no UI for clearing cache, but cleared cookies. I found developer tools, cleared its history, logged in once more and see the following:

Have you tried clearing the browser cache? And then reloading?
Of course the alternative is to try a different browser. Developers: Have you noticed there are fewer than usual people online? I have.

When I log in, I get a "Welcome to Illyriad" page (that's both its title and its content) with the usual tool-bar in the header and a swirly spinny thing in the top right corner. I can wait hours for that to load anything, futilely. I can click on controls in the control bar; the browser (Vivaldi, webkit-based like chrome) changes what URL it claims to be loading, but not what it displays. Hovering those controls doesn't bring up their side-controls. The left-right arrows for city-change do nothing, but the drop-down between them operates; when I select a new city, this greys the toolbar; if I then reload the page it's ungreyed but I'm in the same loading state as before, just with different city details in the tool-bar. Various things that are [@...] constructs display as such rather than being converted, so I suppose scripts haven't run in the page.
This means I have not seen a single working page of the game in over 28 hours. |

I have been experiencing major lag in chat for about 2 weeks now. We discussed in SIN AC and apparently so are alot of other players.
I have to constantly refresh for chat to update. |

Myself and many members of my alliance and also other friends I have talked to have been extremely laggy the last few days especially. This includes getting repeatedly kicked off, freezing, very slow updates to chat, in-game emails not wanting to be sent,etc.. I have never had these type of lag issues on illy until recent weeks and this week in particular it has been just super bad. If it were only me, I would live with it, but it seems to be a much wider spread problem even though there is not much talk about it on the forum. |
