Oh- yeah...  park an army there.... That will help Meagh's "emissaries" as well as start petty disputes. A "chill out" policy is in order.

Why dont you just park a small troop on the tile you wish to harvest? Not only is harvesting a miiniscule part of getting income, but the caution that is being shown a few fleabittin mules over and over is rediculous.
Bottom line is - your caravans are your own problem - you dont want them hurt, then leave them at home.

Personnaly I agree with Kumo on this, if a newbie is aggressive when you politely contact them, then they will clearly become a problem neighbour in the future, so some tough love is required in teaching them the etiquette of the game.

I should have clarified my response better.

We only have one side of the story here and tone is often misconstrued in text. While Meagh may think his initial outgoing mail is polite, the recipient might not see it that way and may have in their mind that this player is claiming to own something on the map that is clearly a free-for-all.

To me, the very fact that a mail was sent implies ownership of a node and I myself would have likely replied with a mail that said something that could be interpreted as "Bugger Off".

I am like Kilotov, if I have a new expansion and I need iron or wood, a gathering I go.

I have yet to send an IGM to a player saying "How Rude!" or "HEY, I WAS HERE FIRST /nerdrage". Competition for these renewable nodes are inevitable, a lot of people just accept that and go on their way.

Just ignore the bumpings, I began in norweld and bumping was part of the game. Yes, even if they bumped you at a harvest spot next to your city.

When I was small I admit that I bumped many people, and got bumped many times myself. It was not because of bad intentions, it was only because I was'nt paying enough attention; I think everyone should take that aproach, it's just alot easier...

Edited for obvious reasons.

We are a newbie friendly game. But that does not extend to rude behavior! If they persist on doing this, I'd slaughter some of their caravans. They'll wise up quite quickly...

Is there any 'firm but fair' strategy; a measured approach? Could you [addressed to all] communicate that it's plain bad manners to be aggressive, and threaten to, say, thieve resources and only give them back after a period of non-aggressive behaviour? Also say "we could be freinds, and I can help with resources", as the carrot.

The newbie protection is only limited to a few days, and I believe this protection is intended to help newbies get going, rather than to protect aggressors who are punching above their weight.
