Selos was alive again... but he wasn't all there. His thoughts were muddled, and while he could speak, it was difficult. His memories of the time as a spirit were faint... it felt like he was forgetting something that he should tell the Queen.
He didn't feel the need to go and drink himself to Oblivion and back like normal, so instead he just shambled around the town with a slight limp, staring out and watching life flow by through half-closed eyes.
THen something in his head clicked, and he was standing in a darkened tunnel. Torches on the walls flickered, blowing back in an unnatural wind as miners ran back up the tunnel, away from the horrid creatures they had woken. Selos himself was rushing down the tunnel along with the other guards, sword drawn and a vicious warcry echoing in his throat.
He slashed at the crimson-skinned tentacled creatures, severing tentacles with each swing. One of his fellow guards got sucked into the blackness, a scream the last sound he made. Selos realized this was a losing battle, and called out to the other guard to start retreating. before they got a few feet his fellow dwarf too fell to the beasts.
That was when he turned and ran. "Seal the tunnel!" He shouted out as he neared the beggining of the doomed shaft. Then the others collapsed the support and let tons of rock drop onto the demons chasing them.
Selos gasped in pain as he jolted back to the present, torn free from the memory he'd been forced to relive. His face was pressed down into the cobblestones and an older guard was on top of him holding him down. Selos could just barely see a curious crowd gathered around him.
"Urgh... What happened?" He tried to grumble out, but the words were barely understandable even to him.
"You just went crazy, started slashing at thin air and screaming. You nearly killed three people before we got here, they barely avoided your sword." The guard on his back growled. "Why?"
"I don't know... it was like I was back in the mines when we broke through the Silversteel vein and the demons came out."
Only then did the revived dwarf realize that he was ixing up the past and the present, his muddled mind realizing that he wasn't completely whole, not himself.
