I'm mostly on the far end of ordre, contreordre, désordre. When it started I checked the diplo page to see if I could reinforce ABSA in Zanpur, oops.
In one hostile siege so far -- it lasted two minutes from land to recall -- I told the "enemy" what they need to break it if I fail to send the messenger in time.

Well, I like many Consone folks including you, but as an Illy powerblock I trust Consone as far as I can throw Kumo.

LordOfTheSwamp,
Sorry to be out of topic here, I saw you quote Ander's statement, "A boy is building sandcastles on a beach. You go and kick down his castle. You could say that it only reflects how you play with sandcastles. Others may think it reflects who you are." - Ander. Since you quote that statement in your signature, I assume you support that statement. I tried to find the original thread but I failed, so I comment here.
I am asking your opinion.
1. I am wondering, if an Illyriad player like to kill animals in Illyriad, can others think it reflects who he is, someone who are cruel to animals?
2. If an WWF member play Illyriad and he kill animals every day here, if WWF found out his activity, will WWF sack this person because of that?
3. If Betsy plays Illyriad and kills animals here, and then Jane accused her as a person who are cruel to animal, who has the wrong thought, Betsy or Jane?

It does seem at this point that a war of some sort is inevitable. However , I personally feel that , to prosecute an exaggerated conflict, starting from a minor "friction" over the resources on two mines, is a sad refelction on the inability of some players in H?/Dlord to fail to accept the changes that Tv2 brought to the game of Illy.
No matter how H? leaders twist and turn to justify their irrational aggression to the community , they cannot, by any stretch of the imagination compare Absa with "White" or the "Tubana faction of MK" and those who insist on removing Absa cities from Keppen are only doing so because they are stuck in the past of the "old Illyriad".
The game has moved on from the old "Siege, Grabbit and LOL" mentality that we have seen in the forums over the last two days. Those who want to prosecute this war simply because they want to stay "top dog" or just want to "siege cos its fun" are doing the community a diservice because it is plain that community doesn't want this. Many also accept that Absa don't deserve this.
Elsewhere Angrim of mCrow, wrote, that if you want peace "you have to work for it". H? are now indicating that their armies may attack and siege irregardless of whether RHY and Absa settle this or not. So it seems that if the community wants peace now it is going to have to fight for it!
These kinds of misdirected glory seeking wars in Illy are unnecessary and out moded. If you believe in Illy and in the new Tv2" changes then fight for them. Fight against H?/Dlord and show them that they are wrong. Please don't sit on the fence. Make this THE LAST war of its kind in Illyriad.

Next time if someone want to use his siege engines, ask permission from GM Rill first. He is the only one who can decide it is time to use siege engines or not. |
Next time perhaps read my post before ridiculing me. If you must ridicule me, please try to pick something original. I'm worried people will be bored by the repetition. |
Also, Rill claims to be a She. This has been verified I believe...

You know, stepping back, this is sad. I see two sides playing two separate games in the same place. |
This was an interesting and obviously deeply thought out post - thanks. Obviously there are some errors, some assumptions (good and bad) and some bias (only human). It almost makes me want to post more info about the situation at hand but TBH it doesn't really matter what I say here - there will always be a bunch of people who won't read it and try to rip it to pieces. I toyed with the idea about posting a thread saying the sky is blue. I expect that would get a response from Rill about how from her perspective the sky is actually green and if I look at this weather report from 1975 at 6:15pm in Timbuktu that proves it. LOTS would post about how I'm an evil dictator and he defends the right for sky to be blue to the death, etc. Thanks for the post anyway.

I would argue that perhaps people will think twice before taking any military action at all -- instead there will be more negotiation.

Rill, I made no progress at all talking to Consone about problems.

As an aside, I'm aware of a player who does refuse to attack animals on map, as it doesn't "feel" right. She was suggesting that there should be an advantage to players making friends with the animals. It's a cool idea. But it's beside the point.
Because those animals, they are pixels and data created by and held in a computer. If you attack some NPC animals you do no more than change what pixels are displayed and some fields of data.
But those cities, those belong to real players. Players who have invested time, money and emotions in their creations. If you attack those, you are affecting that real person.
To refer back to the sandcastle analogy that you questioned. The sandcastle is not at issue - the boy building it is. If you stamp on a pile of sand thrown up by the sea that nobody cares about, then that is obviously not an issue. But if you stamp on a thing that someone is taking time to build and putting emotion in to, then that is, shall we say, "more worthy of consideration"?

I am sorry Rill, I don't know that.
Thanks for the correction. Sisren.
