Thank you for your courageous post, GNU.

KillerPoodle, the people who need to chill out is H?  When I first started playing Illy, I respected and even admired you folks.  You no longer merit admiration and are losing the last shreds of respect.

That is why this is not about a mine and that's why this dispute is between RHY and Absa (although it seems that SKB decided yesterday they were missing out on the fun and send tens of thousands of troops into the fray).

Skb's attacks as of yesterday is a most interesting development. If they had that kind of firepower at their disposal all along, why did they call on Absa for help during the initial mine incident? They clearly had the strength needed to address it with Rhy, yet they brought in a major confed at the very start. And as you pointed out, Absa attacked Rhy AFTER Rhy and Skb had an agreement.

It seems to me that Absa and Skb had intentions for major escalations from the very beginning. Add to that the taunting emails from Absa and their early avoiding of any real diplomatic negotiations, and it gives the appearance that Absa wanted a major conflict from the start.
What I hear said is that Absa and SkB colluded to goad RHY into attacking Absa towns so Absa could destroy the sieging troops.  Then Consone was supposed to come in and wipe out RHY or Absa and SkB thought they could do it together.  I hear you believing that there was a plan to attack RHY cities but it never got off the ground, not one attack was launched.  Does that indicate that Consone wouldn't support the plan (internal dispute) or that Consone wasn't organized to support it (couldn't get their act together in time) or that the plan was foiled by H? or that Absa and SkB never got their act together despite all the pre-planning or all of the above?

Is the involvement of H? supposed to be a total shock?  I thought it at least possible they would get involved when it was clear that H? members had moved to RHY.  When the H? players were in the vanguard of the attacks I thought it more possible.  After Sir Bradley's first post I thought NC would get involved.  I've certainly tried to convey my beliefs to Absa.

If I may, is the point of this that Absa (and Consone) are so stupid that even though it was obvious H? was involved they still thought they could pull a fast one because they thought Consone was stronger than H? but look, H? is stronger than Consone and they stood up for what is right?

The thing is, KP has made it very clear he thinks the forum and people's involvement in Illy are a game and a game where destruction is clearly an expected outcome.  He's made it clear H? is playing a game and people shouldn't care so much.  Which is so true on one level and so not true on others.  This is just a game, but it's not a wargame and yet, it is a wargame too.  To different people it is distinctly different games.

Some people like to garden.  Sometimes the weather will destroy their garden.  That's obviously a risk of gardening.  Does that make it OK to deliberately destroy someones work because in your legitimate view that's a risk of the activity?

Not recognizing that people play games for different reasons is a moral failure.  Maybe putting people together that play different games is just wrong.  KP's right, it is just a game but not everyone playing Illy is playing a wargame and expects to be destroyed.  If Illy is to be a wargame, I want no part of Consone or Absa.  If it's a wargame and what is outlined above is true Absa and Consone are terrible at war and KP is right, people shouldn't get so worked up.  I won't fight for that.  If Illy is to be more than a wargame (there are so many better strategy wargames), then I'll be part of Consone and Absa because although they clearly suck at war, maybe the game will be better if they can force it to be about more than war? (that's an oxymoron isn't it)

Here is a question for the masses.  Who do you think is better at wargames?  The people interested in playing war games or those that want to play something else?

Is H? fighting to keep incompetent people from playing a wargame or are they fighting a wargame against people playing a different game?  If H? isn't fighting a wargame, then KP should understand why some people are going to be really upset by this war and he would understand why they are passionate.

This game has armies.  There will always be some element of the player base that want's it to be a wargame so what about that?  If some players want Illy to become a war game, were does that end?  Does all of Illy become a war game and can that be undone?

The situation as I see it, not that it’s worth anything I just want to get it off my chest.

  1. Two unclaimed mines are sent armies by a Rhy member, one of them is within two squares of a SkB city and I’m not sure where the other one was.
  2. SkB takes exception and through discussions it is agreed that Rhy will immediately give up one and will, down the line, leave the other. I am not aware that a time frame was set on the abandonment of the second mine, if anyone has that information please forward it to me and I will amend.
  3. A small force is all that stood on the mine that Rhy was keeping for awhile before giving it up. Instead of sending in their own troops SkB asks Absa to do it for them.

This is where I get lost. The force that was there could have been easily wiped out by most small alliances let alone one as established as SkB. I have seen the size of the forces that Buridan is now using to break sieges and they are impressive. My opinion is that SkB chose to “ask” Absa clear the mine for them because both SkB and Absa were interested in escalating the situation. I can see no other reason for them needing help with a few hundred troops.

So SkB, why was it necessary to ask for help with a few hundred troops?

I don't know who this person is in game. Looks like another anonymous coward, but this perfectly personifies the Soup attitude. They think they are the "New World Order" and that everyone should bow to it.

There is no evidence that this is a Consone member. And saying they are is just propaganda. Also could you show me where Consone has shown their "New World Order Attitude?" On the contrary, Jasche's post showed great humility.

I respond to a ridiculous pro- Consone comment here and you claim it is propaganda? How am I supposed to know who this is when they are cowardly hiding their name? But they were arguing for you, so stop trying to spin the comments. I love how every comment on the Rhy/H? Side is taken literally and the ones that aren't convenient on the Soup side are denied...

Kumomoto, please correct the quote box in your post so that you are not literally putting words in Vanerin's mouth.  Hopefully that was not your intention.

Because it is their prerogative as confederates. Now may I ask you why Rhy did not fullfil their promise to leave the square?

You can't know who it is, so there is no point in trying to guess. For all we know, this is a H? member making a post to give you ammo. (I extremely highly doubt that) Regardless, you can not presume to know the poster is from Consone.

Also, they were not arguing for me. I am not in anyway connected to Consone.

Because SkB were worried that they would be target of disproportionate aggression, they being less than one third the size of RHY.

RHY sent thieves and attacks against our cities and troops, and we didn't retaliate because we did not want to escalate things. And at that time, I didnt even know they had the backing of H.

I wasn't expecting RHY to send siege camps at all towns in Keppen though. It was only when large siege camps landed near our cities in Keppen that we asked help from our allies.

It seems likely based on RHY's actions that they are taking this opportunity, supported by H?, to make a land grab in Keppen.  It is possible this has been their goal all along.  Other players who have cities in Keppen, take notice.

It is possible Rill, but it can not be said one way or the either unless Rhy/H? comes out and says that. Either way, it doesn't really change the facts.

I got only one question: Do you "solve" your real life disputes like those in the game?

If yes I wonder if everyone of you still got friends.
Also known as Afaslizo ingame.
