Here's another point as well to add to this one, or just to expand it. I have found that I tend to try and research the items that say research but am not allowed to till I upgrade to be able to. I was wondering if there is a way to keep them from showing up till one could click on them. Like all requirements met then it shows up type of thing.

I don't mind the scrolling.  In fact, I rather enjoy it.

I agree. I found the most convenient page in the old design to check research was when clicking on the Library and seeing the convenient list that was there.

Would it be possible to have different views for research? A simple list would probably work best for someone in a rush. Or just make it that you can see what you can do on one page, but anything that needs an upgrade goes on another page.

Thumbs Up Love the new design since you can see the precedent and dependent research but Thumbs Down hate the scrolling.
You have moved it to be alphabetical from the look which puts trade below sovereignty. Sovereignty usually shows up longer as it is more expensive. Also since there are so many items in that tree it pushes anything else below it requiring a lot of scrolling.
 
It would be nice if each section by area was condensable allowing for less scrolling.
