I was just agreeing with Uno...... that unless it followed certain criteria it's not Casus Belli.

Do you even know what is a Casus Belli? First of all yes, a Casus Belli is based on set rules, a party doesn't single handedly decide that they have a Casus Belli against another party. Since I don't think there are set rules about this currently in Illyriad (and yet so many claim that Illyriad does have politics) it's about time the Alliances that decide to go to war state that they are doing it without trying every time to paint themselves as the righteous paladins and the attacked party as the Devils. If there are set rules then I don't see a problem in declaring what is the Casus Belli?
Second, calling for a Casus Belli obviously means you have to state what it is. Otherwise anyone could just claim they have CB and do whatever they want, save putting up the offended bully attitude like the one quoted above when asked what's going on.

Yeah Uno I think I get the part about Casus Belli - its latin and means "Grounds of War", meaning you would require at any given time to acknowledge a the grounds of war - interfere in a war.

The thing that leaves me rather baffled in all this is that it sounds like your'e building a NATO for Illyriad - I find that a little...too drastic perhaps.

I don't support direct interference on this scale, in fact I would say that the problem lies with excessive use of confederation instead.

Look I'm not building anything except resource plots. I was just protesting the use of pretentious words to make things look like what they aren't.
I said -and I don't think anyone could seriously object it- that if you publicly state you have a CB then that has to be explained or your statement has no value whatsoever. You translated into to a demand of permission to declare war or who knows what else. Well, I can only say believe what you want. My impression is that there's a will to escalate the discussion into chaos so that, as usual, the real point gets lost in the pages. I'm not really interested, so continue with your conspiracy theories without me.
For the records, Casus Belli is Latin because it exists since the Roman Age. The Republican Senate required a CB in order to declare war. So yeah I do agree with you, YOUR referral to NATO is a bit too drastic.

There has been no clarification of the Casus Belli by Res on this occasion. I notice that Harmless? didn't stipulate a specific reasons for their declaration against Valar either. From what I can see there is no formal requirement  to do so.

Perhaps the community should give it's opinion on whether alliances should post a public notification of "Grounds for War" in the forum before making any declaration? Perhaps we can organise a seperate poll to see what the community would prefer?

I have been trying to have war justified in fine print to determine just cause to start a war. As of right now, players or alliances start a war over difference of opinion. So, basically, if you want to start a war, having a difference of opinion is reason enough to start a war on someone.

H? and their coalition members have determined that a difference of opinion is just cause to start a war. Simply, I do not like you, lets war with you...

It is really petty in my opinion that wars are started over such things. I feel this is more or less a grade school mind set. That hopefully mature adults would be able to have better reasons to start a war than over simply disliking the person.

Wars are started over personality clashes in this game. In real life, if you do not like someone, he or she may talk behind their back or just plain be rude to that person. In this game, as of right now, players not only do just that but also war with that player or alliance.

Illyriad: Petty reasons to start a war.

If a player does not like this, then go ahead and blame H? since they are responsible for shaping opinions of most of the alliances in this game.

However, if a player likes to war over petty reasons, enjoy!
