Updates 26JUL10
Upgrading/downgrading buildings and existing production orders
In preparation for the remaining Sovereignty releases, levelling up (or down via demolition or bombardment) now affects the production speed of existing items in the production queue.

So, if you set your Common Ground to produce 400 Livestock and then upgrade your Common Ground, whatever items are remaining to produce will produce at the new speed.

There are 2 notes about this change:
  • This currently only affects item production speed, not unit production speed - which will come shortly, once we're sure this change is bedded-in properly.
  • There is a small chance, especially with radical production speed changes, of a current single item in production being lost during the change process as your workers re-tool.

All existing item production orders for all players have been updated to reflect their new production speeds.

I believe it must be more than a chance, and potentially more than 1.  I have dozens of orders for 1000+ units that have been increased by 2-3 units per thousand.  A couple yet-unstarted orders for 4000 livestock are now for 4010.

Well, yes.  Depending on the length of time the advance orders cover, the number of items affected can change more than a single item, but we are very much talking about exceptions rather than rules here - at least for the vast majority of players - during the retooling of the building phase (oh alright, push me to say it, the "rounding numbers bit").

If it turns out to be massively exploitative, we'll have to revisit.  We are keeping an eye on it, and will change things as required.

Best,

SC

I don't think the variance I'm seeing is worth attempting to exploit, but I do think it will be very common nevertheless.  As time progresses--and potentially more players heed my personal brand of sage advice--large queues are likely to become more common to alleviate excess tedium of daily queue data entry,  guarantee constant resource production, and possibly even save some prestige.  (You don't need multi-queue capability if all your production queues are booked solid for the next 100 days. Wink)

Now that queue speeds change, there's no longer any cause for restraint prior to reaching level 20 either.  There's no downside really...just less work and drudgery.
