I've noticed that you can send a caravan to animals, but instead of gaining said animal the caravan dies. Shouldn't it be you would gain a tame fighting animal? like a bear, or a dog?. like a dog could be strong against infantry and weak aginst archers or cavarly? can't we give this some thought?

Caravans are not fighters, if you send them to an occupied square the caravan will be killed.
If you plan to send an army, just make sure you know how many units you are going to fight by sending a scout first. Otherway you may hasve nasty surprises (if send to a legion or throng).

Seeing as they are ferocious, homicidal animals with combat abilities on par with, if not better than, professional military units, don't you think they might be just a tad difficult to capture and tame? Especially if done via carts that explode instantly, regardless of number, when faced by even a single underpaid and poorly equipped Militia?

Just training a bear to keep the cyanide pill under its tongue until captured would be a nightmare.
