This is mentioned on the official help topic regarding Combat:

Mountains favour ranged units and nimble spearmen, and penalise cavalry heavily. Attacking swordsmen are also hampered by the passes, gulleys and canyons that make frontal assaults more difficult.

Now, my question is, does "nimble spearmen" include advance spearmen, considering they wear heavier armours than basic spearmen? Also, does "hampered swordsmen" include basic swordsmen, because their armours are lighter than even advance spearmen?

Another question, what type of terrain is a "Rocky Outcrop" tile?

Cheers,

Ael

Fairly sure that the bonus/penalty is the same % for tier 1 and tier 2 units of the same type (so advanced spears will gain same % bonusas basic ones)

A rocky outcrop is a "large hill" - gain bonuses for hilly terrain (so dwarves initial city gets a nice defensive bonus)
