These forums were unavailable for a period of just under 4 hours last night, from approximately 0015UTC to 0345UTC.

We use a third party for forum hosting, and they have indicated that the outage - which affected their network more generally than just us - was due to a failure in one of their downstream suppliers, and the root cause of the outage is currently being investigated.

The game itself was not affected by this unavailability, just the forums. 

This is a large part of the reason why we not only keep the game logically separated from the forum, but also separated in terms of hosting, bandwidth providers, and even continent (!) - so that events like this have limited impact and there should always be a mechanism to communicate with you what's going on either within the game or the forum.

Apologies, of course, for the forum outage; and we're looking forward to hearing what the root cause was and what steps are being taken to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
