There appear to be some terraformers who aren't satisfied with the gold they earn from selling their Tenaril. I see 'newbs' in GC quite often, and its impossible to see who is a real newb and who is a terra. They will ask for res, including books, which they should be supplying from their main. I have stopped helping newbs until they've reached 8 days, since the life cycle of a terra is only 7. I think if a person is going to be a terraformer they should be starting the new accounts with a different link, which either gives them a randomly generated name of numbers and symbols, which will show they are a terra in GC. Or, just not let GC work for terras. This could be done because the Dev's know who is constantly making new alts every few days and they could adjust this. I know it is very low on the Dev's list, but I needed to gripe a minute. Dev's know everything, which is why I never open my curtains.

Thank you very much, as you were.

Love, The (Honest) Terraformer

I send a good bit of help to new players and haven't really had a problem with sending to terraformers vs. newbs.  A lot of terraformers either don't talk in gc or have names or identify themselves immediately as terras.  If I'm not sure, I ask.

I think this is a solution in search of a problem.  In particular, I can think of many things I'd rather have the devs be doing than worrying about this.

I agree Rill. Who is this idiot 'Terraformer' anyway?

Seriously, I just wanted to get gripey out loud. So I did. But you guys didn't hear me so I posted it here. I'm over it now.

By the way, there should be more caravans. I want more caravans. I don't even care if they can FindaPath.

this makes good sense, though it also deprives the real newbs of help in the most critical time (and, of course, ruins the recruiting effect of extravagant gifts, since most newbs are snapped up by alliances in the first week). i feel sure those who find meaning in helping newbs will continue to help them, and that terraform accounts inclined to use their apparent newbness to score swag from the vets are unlikely either to use a special link to make them distinct from "real" newbs or to respond honestly to Rill's query. so caveat provisor.

i honestly don't believe the devs get enough information from a new player to spot fraud within 7 days if care were taken and there was no complaint from the community, even if they thought it worth the attention. air it here, but don't look for dev action on it.

I will still help new accounts. Unless its obvious its a terra. So that way an actual new player don't get missed. They need our help and its up to us vets to help them. Like the vets helped us when we were new. That is why I moved 4 towns to Elgea, so I was closer to the newb ring. Its obvious this game is geared towards them and if we are going to keep playing we should do all we can to keep the new players here.
I love helping new players and have endless patience in answering questions.

I just want to point out a couple of things. First, I'm not asking people to stop helping newbs until they're 8 days old. That's my decision and I don't expect anyone else to think with my head. Second, I don't expect the dev's to do anything about it. Only because its such a goofy thing to gripe about.

This was a gripe, a voice in my head which just got too dang loud. I had to let it go, like when you're standing in front of the bar waiting for your drink and have to fart. I don't care if the bartender knows I fart, I just needed to let it out.

Like I already said, I'm good now, and could care less if terras are in GC or even at walmart.

But you have to admit more vans would be nice...
