Hello all! Many thanks to our fantastic players who recently volunteered to send prestige to the devs so that we can then turn it into a donation to http://www.ctf.org/" rel="nofollow - the Children's Tumor Foundation , a foundation that was brought to our attention by the magical Kodabear and http://forum.illyriad.co.uk/tournament-shine-a-light-on-nf_topic6869.html" rel="nofollow - the tournament that he and Digioso recently hosted! We are now in the process of counting up all of the donations and then adding our own donations to it. We will have the total soon and we will update the information here. Alright, the totals are in and many thanks to the fantastic Illy players we were able to send in donations! We matched what you sent in and gave $1434.00 total to the http://www.ctf.org/About-the-Foundation/Where-the-Money-Goes.html" rel="nofollow - Children's Tumor Foundation ! In case you did not know, players Kodabear and Digioso http://www.illyriad.co.uk/blog/index.php/2016/06/players-create-their-own-game-in-illyriad/" rel="nofollow - recently used Illyriad's in-game tools to put on an in-game tournament to highlight the Foundation. After the tournament, players got together to donate money to the fund by sending the developers Prestige, the in-game real money currency. The developers then topped off the total and donated it in the name of Illyriad's players! (You can see the receipt below.) It's great to know that the funds will go mostly to research. According to the CTF's website, 53% goes to research, 29% to education and patient support, 12% to fundraising, and 6% to management. From the website: "Traditionally, medical research has been based on a culture of competition between scientists, who were pitted against one another to discover cures and treatments. This model led to data stockpiling, a process that ultimately delayed the drug discovery process. Frustrated by this traditional model of drug research and driven by our belief in a culture of collaboration, the Children's Tumor Foundation formulated a strategic plan to accelerate the cure for neurofibromatosis by actively engaging all stakeholders in NF research: patients, scientists, doctors, pharmaceutical companies and the biotechnology field. In a few short years, we have grown from a foundation that funds promising science to one that catalyzes the drug discovery process through a series of innovative processes, key partnerships and strategic investments. The Children’s Tumor Foundation is so much more than a funder of scientific research. We have revolutionized the field of NF research, forging new pathways for one reason and one reason only: to benefit the millions of people living with NF."
