The topic name explains what my idea is. Basically by clicking on a region you get sent to a new page for the chosen region and are able to examine it from up close. I think we need this because we're not able to examine the map the way we want and the way it is right now feels very limiting on what we can do.

The process can be something like this:
  •  Click on region on strategic map will transfer you to a new page
  •  This new page will have the region you chose with a little of the other regions nearby to both allow us to see what's nearby and for added visual appeal by having the neighboring regions added to the picture ('cause in my opinion the picture of the region would look better if the neighboring regions were apart of the picture)
By adding this feature it would make the map much more easier to handle.

I don't remember where it is, but somewhere the devs have posted a preview of a new map which is intended to be scalable to more levels than the current map and so would give you what you want in a more continuous way.

That's UI v4. Given that you can rotate the map, and adjust the viewing angle, it should basically do what you want (and more) with some tweaking.

This link really looks good but i would also like a simplified 2d map as well with this.

Edit: Another thing i'd like to say is if they make the map of the region have that old classy map feel to it it would look really nice.

Here are a few examples of what i have in mind:

These maps with a few tweaks(like color) would make it look nice.
