Subject: Active Broken Lands hubs?

I've been moving my traders between Broken Lands hubs, trying to find active ones. So far the only popular hub seemed to be Hedgor's Haven, but then after a few weeks it got very quiet. Does anyone have recommendations on where to send traders to find some activity?

I suspect everything is just getting shipped to Broken Lands directly from Elgea, and any items gathered there are being shipped back, probably to Centrum.

Broken lands is not yet heavily populated,  so it will be sometime before people start to do major trading in the broken lands,  most likely people ship back there  valuables to centrum to sell   since there is  a lot of  buyers and sellers in that hub.

I arrived in Hope Ridge earlier today. It does seem far more active than any other southern hub except Hedgor's Haven. However, I did notice that much of the "activity" was a handful of traders offering troop supplies or miscellaneous rares at higher-than-Centrum prices.

Wildlife does seem abundant in that region. Perhaps I will start by offering hunting equipment at fair prices, and see what happens.

I have activated the Belgorrian Trade Hub at http://elgea.illyriad.co.uk/#/World/Map/211/-2403" rel="nofollow - http://elgea.illyriad.co.uk/#/World/Map/211/-2403

This hub is located on the SW Pirate Isles, very central for BL, and provides equal standings to all 4 races (Pirates hate you all equally, -10)

Basic and adv res, a wee little bit of crafted, and a handful of elemental salts. Sufficient stocks for most smaller purchases, and buy orders for basic and adv res as well.

Don't see what you want? Want to negotiate? Contact me directly! I have additional stock in the back.

As a player in the process of moving to the BL, I had similar thoughts on the Belgorrian Hub. I think raising awareness and making a conscious effort to encourage trade there would be a good idea in the interests of kick-starting the economy.

Hope Ridge is roughly in the center of BL. I know that I am in Hope Ridge. I think that location-wise Hope Ridge would be a wise choice for everyone in that it would be the one with the shortest average distance for the most people. So I would like to encourage everyone to use Hope Ridge.

Yeah, Hope Ridge is the best central location. Let's get some action going there!

I had a trader in Hope Ridge for two months. There was hardly any activity there. What makes sense to me as a trader is to concentrate where the most real trading activity occurs, and without a doubt that is Hedgor's Haven.

I don't believe that being central is what caused the focus on Centrum. I believe it is largely because the structure of the new player ring caused it to be the center of mass. Therefore in Elgea the center of mass coincides with the actual (0,0) map center. But the center of mass in the Broken Lands isn't distorted by the spawn ring. The heaviest concentrations of players are actually to the sides because there is water down the middle. The huge uninhabitable areas also change the player distribution. So the precise geographic map center of Broken Lands is still never going to be the heaviest trading location, because it isn't the player center of mass,

I don't think you can 'make' a hub the new Centrum. The new Centrum will occur naturally because activity is happening, and people begin to trade steadily. This attracts competition and the purchasing of local goods. Unfortunately there isn't anything special to purchase in Broken Lands that doesn't already exist abundantly in Elgea, and most small items can be easily shipped to Centrum to trade.

it doesn't hurt that the devs by fiat made it visible to all players regardless of distance.

That was a recent development. Centrum has been the main hub for bulk advanced items and for crafted items as long as I have played Illyriad (2.5 years).

All I'm reading in this thread is logic and well-reasoned responses. Frankly, it disgusts me. I'm going to trade at Belgorrian because I'm a badass orc pirate warlord from beyond the stars, and to Davy Jones' locker with the rest of ye.

I will siege any TBL based player who doesn't send a Trader to Hope Ridge...NOW!

See, that would generate the need for materiel, which would actually cause trade. ;-)
