TOURNAMENT VIII - THE KING'S RUBY JUBILEE AND TOURNAMENT OF THE DRAGONS!

Even though many of his scholars are continuing to work on finding the exact date for the Kingdom to use, it is now known that King Sigurd has been in rule for 25 years! During that time, the land has seen unprecedented growth and  prosperity, but there have been dark moments as well. In celebration of the good and in mourning for the dead, he has decided to host a new tournament:

The Tournament of the Dragons!

RULES:

37 squares (one for each region that do not move from their location) have been designated as Tournament Squares, as follows:

From Midnight on the 26th of April through to Midnight on the 24th of May, any member of any alliance in occupation of these squares receives credit for holding the square.

Credit is based on the length of occupation of each square.  Time occupied by an alliance on each square counts towards the Alliance total.

This credit is on an alliance basis - individual players cannot participate in this tournament.

Alliance NAPs and Confederations are suspended on these squares from now until the end of the tournament, so the "Peace of the Camp" rule (outside of your own Alliance) has been suspended for combat on these squares.

The ability to either quit an alliance, join a new alliance or be kicked from an alliance has been suspended whilst the player trying to quit/be kicked has troops occupying one of the tournament squares.  You must remove your troops from the tournament squares in order to change alliances during the tournament.

PRIZES

REGIONAL PRIZES

1) One square per region is designated a tournament square
2) The alliance that holds that square for the longest period of time, from 00:01 server time on Saturday 26th April to 23:59 on Saturday 24th of May) is the Regional Winning Alliance.
3) All players that belong to the Regional Winning Alliance who were involved in holding - and defending - that square (they must be involved in combat on the square at least once during the month) receive a Regional Prize.

GLOBAL PRIZES

1) All activity on these tournament squares in each region will also be aggregated, so the top 3 alliances that overall have the most amount of possession across all squares will be the Global Winning Alliances, ranked First, Second and Third.
2) This runs for the same period of time: from 00:01 server time on Saturday 26th April to 23:59 on Saturday 24th of May).
3) All players that belong to the Global Winning Alliances who were involved in holding - and defending - that square (they must be involved in combat on the square at least once during the month) receive a Global Prize.

PRIZES

Regional Winners get 30 prestige each and 10 Elite Praetorians per participating player delivered to their Capital City, per square that they win.

Global Winners get a custom medal - and in addition to whatever they receive for their regional victories:

  1. First place: Alliance Tournament Statue to be added to the map at a location of choice
Unique unit: 1 x Dragon Revenant  for each player in the global winning alliance

  2. Second place: Alliance Tournament Statue to be added to the map at a location of choice
    - Unique unit: 1 x Bone Dragon  for each player in the global winning alliance

  3. Third place: Alliance Tournament Statue to be added to the map at a location of choice
    - Unique unit: 1 x Bone Drake  for each player in the global winning alliance

To receive a prize you must be an Eligible Player.

Eligible Players are any player who was involved in actual combat on one of the designated tournament squares on behalf of the alliance who is *still* in the same alliance when the tournament ends.  The alliance you are in when the tournament ends is the alliance you will be given the prizes (if any) for.  Involvement in combat is a pre-requisite for receiving a prize.

We wish you luck!

"...individual players cannot participate in this tournament."

It seems that non-allied players are discriminated against.

1) Make an alliance for yourself, by yourself

2) Temporarily join an alliance and help out in a number of ways

There are players who are offering to form temp. alliances in chat right now. :)

Second and third alliances on regional squares should also get something? Perhaps normal praetorians? Small alliances would feel encouraged if they have a realistic chance of getting prizes.

+1

The chance to win smaller 2nd and 3rd place regional prizes is great incentive for smaller alliances to take part.. reaching 2nd or 3rd place in a region isn't easy by any means, but it is often the only realistic goal for a smaller alliance competing against numerous larger ones.

Capture the Flag tournaments have always been about alliances.

Non-allied players used to hook up with an alliance if they wanted something in a tournament like that :)

Want an invite? :D

Would it be too much to ask that the tourney squares have some kind of highlight applied? They are tough to identify in open terrain.

Another question comes to mind....since the rules don't mention holding a square ONLY in your home territory, then it must be legal for any alliance to hold any of the territorial squares...correct?

AND if this is so...then it would be possible for one alliance to be the winner on multiple squares in multiple territories. Would they then win multiple prizes? Individuals with nore than one badge from this tounament? An alliamce with more than one statue? the possibilities are endless for strong alliance to hold multiple territories, so how will the GM's address that?

Thanks for any input   Smile...Dragonwort

The statues and medals are GLOBAL prizes, for the three alliances that finish first, second and third overall in TOTAL time on ALL squares.  So there will only be one of each.

As for alliances claiming multiple squares, of course they will, as is already happening.  Some alliances may win on five or more squares for the regional prizes and then place for the global prizes.

Participants from alliances that win more than one regional square will get multiple sets of Praetorians and multiple infusions of prestige.  (Maybe if we get lucky I WILL get a 10th city this year!)

Thanks for the petition.  The Perrigor tile didn't initialise properly at midnight so I've manually added your occupation from 02:57 to 06:10 to the totals.

I asked for this in this http://forum.illyriad.co.uk/tournament-upgrades_topic5557.html" rel="nofollow - forum but the devs (StormCrow) said it will not be implemented in this tournament because they think it is not good to "Change the rules" (that was his call), although, I don't understand how that is changing the rules, it is just increasing the incentive.

It usually takes at least a week for them to award prizes after tournaments, often longer, especially for the statues.

We'll get them eventually.

That was actually messengers running to warn everyone... only one army survived to tell the tale.

Even rerunning some of the older toury's would be great. As there is a lot of players that wasn't around for them, and would love the chance to earn the elite rewards they offered, and it wouldn't involve massive work beside expanding them to BL.
