Hi all.

Now I know that most of you may be thinking this is another war propoganda post or something. I assure you it's not. I'm not going to express any opinions here because quite frankly, I don't have any. And that is the problem. While I am involved in this war, I have no personal reason to be, other than the fact that I wish to stand by my alliance and remain loyal. I do know bits and pieces, but I was never personally involved so I don't want to make up my opinion based on a story that everyone tells differently.

I'm hoping that some of you nice people involved could tell us why you started fighting/what you hope to achieve by the end of the war? Gold, justice, vengeance or something else? I'm sure you all have different reasons, and I would like to hear them. And please, no finger-pointing, just your own reasons. You might say you're fighting because you think this alliance is a bully, but don't start blaming and arguing about who started it please. I don't wish for this post to degenerate into another hate war. Just state your own reasons please.

So what I hope to achieve here today is to understand why you guys are fighting. I am not saying we shouldn't fight; I am not saying we should. All I'm aiming for is a clearer picture of this war, both for me and for others out there. Who knows, this might even help in future peace talks, which would probably be smoother if the warring alliances understood each other better.

Anyways, thanks for taking the time to read this, and I hope you can help by sharing your reasons.

Go read the other 2-3 maybe 4 threads on the topic.  Making another thread and asking everyone the same question won't get a better response.

I have. After reading about 20 pages of those it's mostly just people calling each other the villain. That debate would never end. What I'm tryimg to ask here is more clear-cut (I hope). What exactly do you hope to achieve? Say if your enemy surrendered tomorrow, what would you ask from them? That's the purpose of this post.

you ask a question that will attract the same people to start the same arguements all over again, this thread will turn into another " it was his/her fault not mine."
A pointless and uneccessary post.

She certainly had good intentions, though this thread will likely turn into another propaganda filled thread if it gains attention if given the opportunity. I imagine this thread will be more used if the other two get locked.

Maybe you should read all 20 pages of Politics & Diplomacy to get rough picture how and why this latest war emerged.

ok.. why I am at war...

Cause I am in H? like you I am supporting my alliance.  My opinions on the war and all that intails is it sucks.  Also me being who I am and from the reasons i have seen in forums and GC and heard from other players do not warrant a war of this size.  I think it will hurt Illy in a whole.

So I do not support the war but I will fight in it cause I Support my Alliance.

I will try be brief. I am in the war not because of the reasons it started but because my alliance is at war and I support my alliance. This is a war game, with other aspects as well, and thus I play it as such.

Eh, I thought you wanted to hear the reasons people fight, not the goals of the few specific leaders that run each alliance. Of course noone is going to post such a thing in public ... well ok, maybe Hathaldir would ... LOL

TVM fights because if we don't our cities would be sieged away. We were declared on with no warning and to this day no explanation but it's pretty clear we were targeted to draw in our friends. Regardless of the reasons we wont bow down so we fight on.

As for what we want? We want to win.

Why is the  war being fought - vCrow leader says it best in answer Kumo's request for discussion and peace. I personally thank him for at least being honest about vCrow's intention for the war -

I'm suggesting a parley to avoid the holocaust that is facing us. And I suggest Angrim as the mediator. (sorry for not asking you first, but you are the most neutral person I can think of that everyone respects!).

.../snip/...

You've played the game, and you've made the wrong moves for your own selfish reasons. Now you're staring down a barrel, and you know your defeat is drawing near. There's no use in trying to control the narrative. Just accept your fate, and the inevitability of defeat. You've had a great run as the #1 alliance of the server, and now you're facing your biggest challenge yet. Will you fight like the farmer soldiers you are (lol), or continue these futile attempts at delaying the inevitable?

If this is truly about NC and people's impression of them as bullies, then let's get this all out on the table. In H?, we've always seen NC as a small ally who is having fun playing the game, and do not understand the huge backlash, but we want to listen to everyone's comments.

Can we not come to some sort of agreement where small/medium (and perhaps large) alliances can sometimes play the war aspects of this game without causing Armageddon.

No we can't, and we shouldn't. Its all in the game, and you need to accept this.
You tied your own fate to that of NC. By your own words, you said you would NEVER allow them to go down. You made your bet, and now you'll be "going down" with them!

Because, make no mistakes... if we go down this path without any diplomacy, we are going to be a perpetual bloodbath for the indefinite future... And I'm not sure that most of us want that...

Well be that as it may, its exactly where you have lead us... oh great H?!
I'm sure you know that this war won't take very long, and even if it does... the prospect of chasing each other around the map seems rather amusing! LOL

in closing!

THIS IS AN HONEST APPEAL TO REASON.

Illyriad is simply a game. Games are meant to be played, sometimes you win, and other times you lose. That is all, thank you for your time and attention! Beer

It is funny because Tams arrogance is only equalled by his pride (for what I really have no idea) and is easily and readily seen in his posting. I leave his word to speak for themself.

However there is something that I wanted to address specifically because Tam is trying so hard to be as honest as possible without making himself exactly like what he describes H as doing. Note again he statement:

If the above is true.. then WHY pray-tell are supposedly so upset with NC much less H. Did he not JUST say about battle, wars. etc... - "People should be free to pursue their goals and interests without the expressed blessing of the self-appointed arbiters of he Elgea".. that is of course unless you are NC, or H or some other group that you disagree with :D

Another person who can post just a pure fact without any spin. My vote goes to him for a mediator as well.

Angrim is a rook of eCrow. Along with Kenyl (and the support of our wing), he has elected to have eCrow remain neutral in the present conflict. There is a post somewhere on this forum where he states his reasons for not joining the war despite the participation of other crow alliances.

While Angrim is a very level-headed player, it seems unlikely that a rook of a crow alliance could be considered purely neutral in this conflict. I personally consider him to be fair and patient, but that's obviously a biased opinion given that I'm a member of his alliance.

I wonder if anyone is still distant enough from the conflict to consider themselves neutral.
