CODE OF CONDUCT
Knights Errants adhere to a Code of Conduct which gives depth to the Code of Chivalry. In the modern world, true bravery is evident in Knights who keep the Code of Conduct, for much in the world is opposed to the Code. Keeping the Code of Conduct is the great secret to peace and joy. The Knight soon learns that great freedom comes from being bound to the Code.
- In a world that questions the existence and benevolence of God, Knights shall rejoice that they are God’s creation, dependent on Him for their lives. They shall serve God alone and not allow objects, people, or goals to take God’s place in their affections, nor shall they treat any person, object, or goal as if it were God. They shall use all things and serve all people for the glory of God alone.
- In a world that frequently uses God’s name frivolously and even derisively, Knights shall speak God’s name in reverence and give Him honor in their words and their deeds.
- In a world that dishonors the Sabbath by ignorance, work, and exploitation, Knights shall keep the Sabbath holy by attending worship and by using the Sabbath to relax and to bring joy to others.
- In a world in which many mock authority and abuse leadership, Knights shall honor their parents and those in authority over them, showing respect in word and deed.
- In a world in which many harm others or themselves through abuse, addiction, abortion, and other abominations, Knights shall protect all lives, both their own and those of others, by coming to the defense of those in need.
- In a world in which sexual license is the norm, Knights shall exercise sexual restraint. They shall live pure and chaste lives, retaining sexual relations for valid marriages where children, should they be conceived, are welcome.
- In a world where cheating and petty theft are common, Knights shall steal no one’s goods, ideas, or reputation. Rather Knights shall remain honest in all their dealings and strive to never become a source of scandal.
- In a world where lying is almost considered a necessity, Knights shall always tell the truth. They shall strive never to deceive or mislead.
- In a world in which greed abounds, Knights shall divest themselves of their desires for worldly gain. They shall seek to give away rather than retain. They shall be content with the simple necessities of life and shall reject envy of those who have more or better.
- In a world in which impure images and writings abound, Knights shall refrain from viewing, speaking of, or listening to anything that disrespects the human body or that titillates its senses. They shall not succumb to unlawful sexual encounters nor shall they envy those engaged in them. Knights shall avoid temptations to sin and shall cultivate friends whose values are in line with God’s.
